    Re: Mastering a New Skill

I think many accomplished musicians have some natural qualities and abilities that have been reinforced with practice, discipline and mentorship. In a sports anology, would Tiger Woods have been as...

    Re: We Lost John Prine.

One of a kind. So sad. I'm just about wordless. He touched so many with his stories and humor. God speed!
  3. Re: Larry Campbell and John Prine ill with Covid 19

Jackson Browne too. Sadly, our heros are old, just like us. Prayers for all who are stricken by this disease. Prine had lung cancer about 8 years ago and I'm sure has diminished capacity.

    Re: Musician quotes

When I was a little boy, I told my dad, ‘When I grow up, I want to be a musician.’ My dad said: ‘You can’t do both, Son’.”

I was blessed to see Jethro accompany Steve Goodman many times in the 70's. I didn't know then what I know now, but it wasn't hard to see that he was a consummate musician and entertainer. I loved...

    Re: Tailpiece for Eastman 515

Contact Eastman customer service. Couple of years ago I bought a used Eastman archtop guitar that had the pick guard in the case, but no bracket or screws. They sent me the missing pieces, no charge.

    Re: Picking / strumming wrist

Don, I hope you have seen a Dr. about this. There is a chance you have rheumatoid arthritis, which can be treated. "Getting old" arthritis is osteoporosis. There is a difference.

Re: Fern Loar F5 Attic Find

I'm an auctioneer and have an auction gallery, but also love fretted instruments. It makes me sad to see flippers who are only into it for the "quick" return regardless of what they may find....
  16. Re: Why are good mandolins more expensive than good guitars?

I'm pretty familiar with Collings and that's a good reference - price, product wise. With the exception of the rare archtop, mandolins have a higher average price than their guitars.
  17. Why are good mandolins more expensive than good guitars?

I'm just a few months into learning mando, having played guitar for decades. I was trying to explain to a guitar playing friend that what I've seen so far is that the price curve for the top newer...
