Someone got it!
There is also a Weber Big Sky with cedar top on the classifieds just a little above your price. I have a Spruce top version of the Big Sky and I've found it very good in group settings and also...
Right on both counts.
The good stuff at Gruhn's is kept upstairs and you have to ask to go. If you meet George Gruhn you will be there at least a couple of hours. It is so worth it.
Thanks for doing a comparison. I think the Hamlett sounded great! Does John set them up for a 17 gauge A string or was that a change you made? Good job!
Does anyone use a tone gard with a mandolin with a varnish finish? I know if it never comes off then you won't see any marks, but the webpage doesn't recommend for a french polished instrument.

I have an old pressed glass box like the one in the picture that belonged to my mother as a child. At home I keep several picks in it and a tuner battery or two. It's not a travel...
I just got the notice that the Moonshiner's Ball has been cancelled until 2021. It was the last festival around me to go (I'm not a performer) and it was also my last chance to see Sam Bush this...
John Hamlett (Sunburst on the forum) makes a nice one that is also unique. I'm sure you can find pictures of it if you want to search, but I don't have any.
I don't enjoy changing strings so I rarely do it before the strings start to exhibit some sort of problem. I put monels on my SA and they felt too "slinky". I ended up taking them off after a...
This forum knows all...
I would put in a recommendation for John Hamlett. He worked on my Weber and had it sounding and playing better than ever before. While I was there he let me play one of his A models as well as one...
I knew a banjo player in high school (many moons ago) who would eat pizza before playing to grease up his fingers and fingerboard. To each his own. I clean and oil the fingerboard on a guitar after...
I don't think you'll be disappointed. I bought the 505 from one of the previous posters in your thread. Even though I've gotten more expensive mandos now I can't seem to part with it. It is a...
Sirius XM took a channel that I loved (The Loft) to make it a temporary U2 channel. Then it became a temporary Billy Joel channel, then on and on. The Loft never came back. I haven't cancelled yet...
Definitely ceramic. It looks like it might be a mudslide.
I bought the cheaper zoom H1n when it was the stupid deal of the day. I've only used it to record myself so far but I'm taking it to a jam tonight. They are dead simple to operate and a 32 gig card...
When the guitarist is playing a guitar model named after him you know he will be slightly above average. Seriously, Eric is terrific.
I don't understand how the frets would affect the tone when not fretted.
I bought a used guitar tone rite and used it on a couple of acoustics before a string change. The strings were already killed so that wasn't a worry. It didn't seem to make enough difference to me...
I've been trying to change to this style from the classical grip, but I feel like I lose some precision and control. I'm guessing with some practice I will adjust.
I believe it was Mark Twain who said that the definition of a gentlemen is a man who knows how to play the banjo, but chooses not to...
All yours!
I don't think so. I have one. I started with an ebay armrest that was too small and I like the larger size and the way it is sculpted.
I'm not sure what you were expecting from a topic entitled "Silverangel praise" I don't mean any disrespect, Jeff.
I'll add to it. I have an '07 A model that I believe once belonged to Orrico. ...
