    Re: Ellis A5?

I own an Ellis A5. Here are a couple of sound samples that sound a lot like mine.

  3. Re: -If you could have any mandolin in the world….

This one haunts me - Great sound. Even if I won the lottery I would not want to have that much tied up in an instrument

  4. Re: Best Place to Sell aside From Classifieds

You might see if there are options locally. Such as jams, festivals or contacting music teachers (you may want to offer some $ a sale occurs) and letting them know what you have available.
  5. Re: Slight frustration when changing mandolin strings

Can't speak for anyone else. But I usually take off all but two strings. An A and E or G and E or A and G. Allows me to clean the mandolin easily without effecting intonation. And yes James...

Re: Why no narrow nut options?

    I believe Duff's are typically 1 1/6" with a flat fretboard, but I have seen others 1 1/8".

    Re: 1996 Gilchrist price list

Great point. But what other investment could you have enjoyed for regularly for 20+ years and still double or tripled your money?

    Re: 1977 Gibson F-5 Questions

I agree with Jeff. It was thoughtful of someone to leave your daughter an instrument. Hopefully she appreciates that and plays the heck out of it.

Re: Looking to Replace the Bridge

If the base seems fine maybe do as suggested and just replace the saddle. You should be able to have someone cut the string spacing and should be pretty easy to do.

Re: Looking to Replace the Bridge

A Cumberland bridge would be a good replacement. The only way to get a good fit is for someone to have the mandolin and bridge. Any chance you will be traveling for attending a festival sometime...

    Replacing Gotoh Tuners

I am looking at upgrading my tuners. I currently have Gotoh A style tuners. I am considering replacing them with Schaller Grandtune or Rubner's, Waverly's are not in the budget. The post spacing is...

Here are a couple. The pictures do not do the first one justice. It is spectacular and 3D, moves and looks different as you move it.

    Re: Pliable fretting strings

I really like Elixir nanoweb strings. They seem easy to play, sound good and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I thought about that but when I clicked on the link it went to this listing -
