  2. Re: Alt Tuning ? - high g to low e?

Its SO confusing when people write tunings the wrong way around...

    Then primetone 1.4 rounded triangle.

That is not loads unless you mean multiples of those!

  4. Re: Electric Octave Mandolin. 4 vs 8

It's true that most electric mandolin variants will sound like an electric one way or another. Sure. The chords will be recognisable to an experienced ear. But to me that is not as much the point -...
  5. Re: Electric Octave Mandolin. 4 vs 8

If you look on Jon Mann's site (and this is true of Tavy's work too) they are doing 18" and 19" scale on electric OM models. Tavy does his with a octave pair on the G to stop it sounding too muddy. ...
  6. Acoustic Mandolin plus electric tenor playing live kit question..

    Hi
So my k&k equipped mando I put thru my AER compact 60 for live use. It's great as I can use it as a monitor and in my loud band that's useful. No feedback from front monitors at festivals etc. ...

    Re: Flourocarbon Stinrgs?

If you get a pono BIG baritone - it's made for nylon strings. The bracing is different to a steel string tenor. Different loads!

Four stringed mate! It seemed most comfy in GDAE (I can never guess). Came back to find the guy who tried it after me had attempted to tune to CGDA so I'd have to look at the...

  18. Re: Sliding Door Side Port, Makers?

I once saw a comparison that suggested a side port equipped instrument was as loud if not louder than an instrument without one.
Which begs the question - why worry.
I have a side port in my OM....

Re: Alternate Reality Fender Tenor Tele

I know this is off track but I'd love Godin to do a tenor Fifth Avenue archtop... I was hoping fender's interest might lead to such things
  20. Re: What under $1200 used tenors would you look at?

I'm in the hunt for a tg50 or ETG150 (prob more the latter)... I quite like the fifties ones as I'm not so into the banjo tuner look.
Do these fall into your comments about gibson tenors or are you...
  21. Re: What under $1200 used tenors would you look at?

    Re: Middle four tuning

Hm. For me the common tunings are CGDA, DGBE, GDAE.
I list in that order because that's probably the hierarchy based on history.
