Simple. Polish up your National and use it to look at a reflection. Just like Perseus slayed Medusa.
I'd say "OK boomer" except I'm a boomer, old enough by three months to buy my groceries an hour early tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the response, rcc56. The first thing I did check was the Gibson website. Then a few stores that I know used to sell Gibson and they listed none. Did some searching and did find...
Thanks for the responses. I haven't seen any in shops lately so I thought that they had completely stopped.
Where is the mando factory?
(Checking on online after many years absence although I still play.)
I recall years ago some scuttlebutt about Gibson -- being pricier than other brands of equivalent quality and some policy...
Thanks for the suggestions; I'll look some of those up. (Totally comfortable with the horns keys, F and Bb are two of my favorite. I tend to play tunes in the fiddle keys with open strings but like...
I'm getting back into playing mandolin but more into jazz now that bluegrass. I'm working through one of the books on chording and finding lead sheets for those tunes (if you look hard enough, you...
I'm just in the curiosity phase of amplifying an acoustic mandolin. I read in the description of one of the popular pickups that it's very important to use a good preamp meant for acoustic string...
What do you think of this -- https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/msg/d/everett-collings-mt-mandolin/6907304164.html
Looks like a really good deal. I've been thinking a buying one of these for maybe...
Browsing craigslist I just saw -- https://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/msg/d/littleton-mandolin-rigel-natural/6921298216.html
(No connection, not vouching for ad, I just saw it and thought I'd post...
Thanks for the responses. Turns out this wikipedia article covers most of it (except the "-") https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_names_and_symbols_(popular_music)
I'm not going to worry about...
I found this key https://musescore.org/en/handbook/chord-symbols
That clears up the o slash. I guess the only doubts are why both dim and "o" are used. And I ain't never seen a -6 before.
This is the chart -- https://musescore.com/user/355131/scores/5179469
My guess on "o" is it is dim7 and "dim" is dim triad with no 7th. But I done know what the slash o is.
I found this chart online with + and - on some chords and want to check and make sure I am interpreting correctly.
A-7 = Aminor7
E- = Eminor
B+ = B Aug (triad with sharp 5th)
E-6 = E...
I do like that for finding chord voicings, very nice. Other things that would be cool --
Have an image with the whole neck from fret 0 (nut) to maybe 15 and include every note that is in the...
Actually, most people should be able learn enough music theory to construct any chord, or scale, in a few hours and I learned all that 50 years ago. I'm just looking for a time saver. All you need...
When I searched, I found more than one app called Guitar Toolkit. I think I identified the one you posted the image of as this one -- http://agilepartners.com/apps/guitartoolkit/ Unfortunately it...
Yeah, although I'd rather it have the degrees of the scale (1st, 3rd, etc.) than the absolute notes.
I'll take a look.
I'm looking to visualize every note for chords so I can figure out several different voicings and also arpeggios in many different positions. So it would produce a diagram of a mando neck with an...
I got really bad right elbow pain and had to take a few years off. I started up again a few months ago and was fine for a while but now it's bothering me a little bit so I'm trying to be careful not...
I'm curious how nut width is measured.
Is it the absolutely outer edge of the net?
Or is it the width from the outermost strings of the G and E course?
Like on my Rigel A Nat, the is about...
2705
I guess that'd be an A1 chord. :))

Ugh, I find it truly offsensive that the flipped the gender of the lyrics on Angel from Montgomary. John Prine wrote and sang that in 1971 or there abouts. I can't believe someone would think it...
