Welcome aboard Brogh. 2 thoughts for you. First is to check out the "Mandolin setup thread" by Rob Meldrum. Second is the Newbie group in the social groups tab beneath the Look and Listen pull down....
Wow, Loose Lucy. Grateful Dead 1974.
I want to thank you, for a real good time!
I am too. Or at least I try to be one however poorly. Growing up my grandfather used the term. And today in my circle of friends jams are referred to as pickin parties.
Thank you for that Sherry.
Thank you for the info. I will have to dig into these articles. I probably worded that poorly. Should have said something along the lines of " he doesn't get___
Ah never mind. I should just shut...
+1 for me also. I seem to have a thing for ovals. If I had to choose one of the 3 the OP mentioned, then the Pava gets my vote.
My Pava is not my loudest axe. However it is the cleanest and even sounding. When I choose to change picks and attack the volume does increase. My pick control decreased as the attack increased. I...
Sherry, sounds like you had a great time. I think Andy is a tremendous player. Seems like he doesn't get the same love here at the cafe compared to other people. I have one of his method books also....
Dave, congratulations on your new 515.
Don't forget Mama!
I have a Eastman 404. My second favorite to play. Personally I like the sound and feel of it. As Al noted above, the 404 has a different feel (neck) and sound. It is definitely a old sound. Also the...
Actually haven't owned a TV since 96. That's when I moved off the grid. Now days, it only takes me 5 minutes of watching to annoy me and be grateful that I still don't own one.

I...
Mike, is that Weber another oval hole? :))
And in my favorite color. Oh my!!
I am in serious MAS for the oval hole Pava.
Koalabear, I have 3 Eastmans. I found they fit my hands nicely. Some folks don't agree wirh the shape of the neck. Personally, I would purchase the one YOU like the sound of the most. Then, test...
Yup, got my copy in Blue Earth Minnesota today. Blue Earth is home to the famous 60' tall Jolly Green Giant. Eat those peas kids, don't pick at them. :))
My progression? That's easy. MORE!
However there is no longer any room in my truck. Until I get a different truck at least.
Tony, oops. I meant to type 4 vs 41. Definitely no room for 41 in the truck. Did I mention the Roland Cube ?
BTW, the Godin came from TMS. Dennis is great to deal with. Did a excellent job of set...
Hi my name is Larry and I am a Mandoholic. I currently have 4 mandolins in my truck with me. And which is my go to, need to pick right now instrument. I am glad that you asked. MD 404 please. Thanks...

+1 for Jim's post.
What is your definition of GOOD ?
J.C. they are not in the basic category. I do use Dan's versions for several of the tunes I enjoy picking.
