    Re: Punch brothers

Awesome! I saw on the Nonesuch website you can get an autographed vinyl insert if you order through them just like it was for Thile's Laysongs album. Super excited to hear different interpretations...
  3. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

Drew, I couldn't agree with you more. This is high level music, and Michael is so on point. In that Round Rock video you see Bryan Sutton look over at him in what looks to me like awe. I know I...
  4. Re: Found some autographed Bluegrass vinyl at my local store toda

For sure Daniel! They seem to be doing well. I went a few months ago and it was a little weird having to wear gloves when you looked at the albums and all, but it's pretty much back to normal now. ...
  5. Re: Found some autographed Bluegrass vinyl at my local store toda

Man, I wish they were! The only signed ones were the Bill Monroe and The Osbourne Brothers. Yeah, the vinyl is playable, been busy this evening, but plan on spinning it tomorrow. I love our local...

  10. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

Thanks Rob, I absolutely forgot to add Dominick Leslie. I too love that mandolin break on Baptist Pumpkin Farm. I thought I heard him quote part of another fiddle tune toward the end of it, but I...
  11. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

That was a great interview Reid. She is such a monster musician. I mean just mind-blowingly good. Thanks for posting that. The NPR interview was interesting too with Bela, they spoke of Bela...
  12. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

Thanks for this Chris! I was reading the liner notes over lunch today. This will be a great deep dive into this. I agree, I won't be playing along any time soon, but it is fantastic to listen to. ...
  13. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

I totally agree, to me this is every bit as groundbreaking as Bela's "Drive" album. I can't stop listening!
  14. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

I would like to catch them in concert as well. I am sure it will be a treat! Last time I saw Bela was when he and Abigail were touring as a duo. I wonder if Sam will do the songs that he didn't...
  15. Re: New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

  16. New Bela Fleck Album out - My Bluegrass Heart

Anyone listening to this yet? David Grisman,Chris Thile, Sam Bush, Sierra Hull all play mandolin on different tracks. Strong album. Highly recommended. I really like Slippery Eel right now.
  17. Re: Mandolin Tasting: Gibsons, Buckeye, Duff, Northfiled

Gabe, I know its already been said in this thread before, but you make all those mandolins sound great man. Well done.

I think you could do the same thing with some entry level mandolins in the...
  18. New Sturgill Simpson Album - Dood and Juanita - "Shamrock"

Just listened to this early in the morning. I assume Sierra Hull is the mandolin player (or Tim O' Brien). Highly recommended! Great picking!

  20. Re: Installing a K&K in OM - Question about location of endpin ja

Had some time yesterday to get this finished. Installed a JJB through the original endpin jack hole and tailpiece. I've done quite a few K&K or JJB installs, so it went really well. I was just a...
  21. Re: Installing a K&K in OM - Question about location of endpin ja

I didn't get around to doing it this past weekend, but plan on tackling this project this coming one. I ended up buying #42 (the answer to life, the universe, and everything else) directly from Mike...
  22. Re: Installing a K&K in OM - Question about location of endpin ja

Thank you to everyone for your insights and advice! I am still kind of on the fence about which way to go, but I think I am leaning toward a separate hole for the input jack. As Zookster said, it...
  23. Installing a K&K in OM - Question about location of endpin jack

Hey Octave Mandolin folks! I have a question that I figured someone here has run into before. I own a Black GBOM and want to install a K&K or JJB pickup in it. I have installed K&Ks in mandolins...
