    Re: Polishing Gibson Tailpiece Cover

I've use Nevr-Dull for years. About as non-abrasive as you can find.

Are you talking about 1 inch spacing post center to post center?

These are close to an inch.

There are a whole lot of folks here that came from the guitar world myself included.
  8. Re: Who makes a good inexpensive Octave Mandolin?

If I hadn't just dumped money into redoing my shop I'd probably go for one of those. You actually got the shape right as far as I'm concerned and I'm assuming the sound and playablity are there. That...

Re: Is this a serious concern?

Part of the repair cost is going to be trying to undo the last attempt at repairing it. It looks like they dripped glue into the gap on one side.

I do believe it was built in Asia, I'm just not sure where.

    Re: New case from Northfield

The case is pretty universal. It looks like it will fit a right handed and a left handed F style and obviously an A style. Has that Calton vibe going on the interior. Very classic design.

    Wow....
  15. Re: Can anyone help me identify this unknown mandolin?

This isn't a Strad-O-Lin genre mandolin. It's an import. The imported Strad-O-Lin branded mandolins didn't look like this either. Don't assume that it's a Strad because of the segmented F holes.

Re: 1920ish Martin built? For S.S. Stewart

What they might be listed as what they actually are can be two different things. You have answer from some very knowledgeable people here. It's not a Martin built instrument.

Re: Rubner tuners on Eastman MD305?

Let me put this in perspective. It's your instrument. You can whatever you want with it. If Rubner's are what you want and you can get them, go for it. Personally I love hot rods.

    Re: Shipping Calton Mandolin Case

Years ago I shipped a Loar (as in Lloyd not The) case to a guy in Atlanta. I packed it inside a plastic storage box (like the under bed storage sold at Target and Walmart) suspended in Styrofoam...

I have a 2 HP dust collector. It gets a lot of it. I haven't felt the need yet for an additional dust filter but there are folks that make their own all over the web as well as smaller units sold for...

I might as well throw this out there too. I think it was built closer to 00 than 20.

Re: 1920ish Martin built? For S.S. Stewart

To affirm what rcc56 said above, I've never seen an instrument made by Martin for another company that didn't have the Martin stamp on it someplace visible.

We actually have a set of Posting Guidelines that we operate under in this forum to avoid the "vitriol" that you seem to be finding.

The thread subject pretty much takes you into that realm.
