Re: How do you clean your mandolin?

Is the finish laquer/ nitro? A popular choice is Virtuoso Premium Polish and Virtuoso Premium Cleaner. These are sold in separate bottles.

Unfortunately, in my area, people who are actually busking are lucky to get anything. Perhaps you should be flattered.

    Re: Acoustic preamp for mandolin

If you are just looking for a simple preamp/DI, I can't hesitate recommending the Fire Eye Red Eye preamp. It is about the size of an MXR Phase 90 and has beautiful sound, and some simple tone and...

Re: Collings Jet Black in the classifieds

I've played this one. Huge voice. Probably one of the best sounding MT's I've played. To me, the color doesn't matter. It's the sound and the feel.

I've played some pretty fancy looking...

Re: A modern oval hole mandolin

Very nice! I like that you stuck with a 12th fret neck join instead of the longer hybrid style.

I'm glad to see oval hole mandolins making a comeback.

And yeah, where's the sound clip?...

Re: I think I'm doing it right.

I'm partial to a McClung armrest. No more indentation in my arm, better sound from the top of the mandolin, and I can still use it as an anchor point.

Re: I think I'm doing it right.

This is why we use arm rests. More comfortable on the forearm and better hand angle for picking.

I'm using Straight Ups on a 12 yr old Eastman 615. My perception is that the E and G are more responsive than with J74.
