    Cool.

. . . And there's something inherently funny about a basso profundo singing to his "dearest daddy."

Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" solo

I don't think I've ever shared this here, so here remedied. It's a super-easy (but—I like to imagine—super-effective) duo-style arrangement of Puccini's popular aria. When the aria is extracted,...

    Re: Sicilienne

Yes, originally for violin and piano. Nay, Bruce: it was originally in E-flat. I began thinking about it as an arrangement for my mandolin–guitar duo. However, as I was working to transpose...

    Sicilienne

I present to you the famous Sicilienne (1924) fraudulently attributed to Maria Theresia Paradis (1759–1824) by its "discoverer"/actual composer Samuel Dushkin (1891–1976). Regarding upstems, I tend...

Re: compilations of Beethoven mandolin music.

PS: I've played three of them to guitar accompaniment (the variations in D excepted). I'm not certain where my accompanist got the arrangements, but he may have made them himself. Giuseppe Aneda...

Re: compilations of Beethoven mandolin music.

For what it's worth, my favorite of Beethoven's four extant mandolin works is the Adagio in E-flat.

Too much tremolo sounds way out of place to me in these pieces, but can be effective for color...

For what it's worth, Curti is often credited with launching the popularity of the mandolin in North America during its "Golden Age."

    Calace concerti

Yeah, recordings of the first and second for mandolin—if not qualifying as abounding—are at least readily available. Why has Raffaele Calace's (1863–1934) 3ų concerto for liuto e piano, op.150 never...

I've ever so slightly revised the attached (to add a little split-string harmony in places where practical and avoid some jangly sounding open strings in chordal tremolo). I'm hoping to try to...
