    Re: Who?

When I (reluctantly, because I preferred to play guitar or drums) sang in punk bands my friends said I sounded like a female Oscar the Grouch....

    Re: 10-year mandolin anniversary

Yes, I came to the mandolin with 20+ years of guitar playing behind me and also about 2 years on the tenor banjo as well.

    Re: Picks

It's likely that as you progress with your playing your pick preferences might alter - when I started out I was using the pointy end of a fairly light pick (.72mm) for the first couple of months, but...

    Re: 10-year mandolin anniversary

Well done Gelsenbury! I started playing mandolin in earnest 10 years ago as well, though I don't calculate it as 10 years of actual playing because I had a hiatus from 2012-2016, so about 4 years...

Cheers Sean, feeling less pain now, so that's a plus! Follow up appointment on Stephen's Day and likely to get instructions for physical therapy to get started with, so making slow progress to full...

Re: What's The One That Got Away?

There was a Collings MT2-V that I came close to buying years ago, there was just something about it, so effortless to play and sounded the business. Didn't take the plunge and kind of always...

  25. Re: mandolin same tuning as a tenor banjo?

Some tenor banjos are tuned GDAE, favored by players of Irish traditional music like meself, and some tenors are tuned CGDA. Not sure about converting your four string into a tenor as the scale...
