    Re: Desk clamp hanger?

You are correct. The clamp can be rotated, and it will clamp to a solid horizontal shelf or table top edge. The screw knob tightens down effectively for a secure place to hang your mandolin.

Re: Ever heard of a "guitar chair?!"

Kinda like a Collings compared to an Eastman. Worth the money, IMO.

Re: Ever heard of a "guitar chair?!"

I've had a "Sound Seat" for years. Adjustable backrest, height, swing-out foot rest, swivels, on castors. It's also my desk chair! Hundreds of avid users over on the AGF. The inventor has passed on,...
  10. Re: Mandolin playing mindset vs guitar playing mindset

Pick a whole new set of songs to play/learn instead of trying to "convert" ones you already know to the mandolin. They can still be strummers (Back in the High Life, Losing My religion, Battle of...

Are you averse to rock/pop songs that ARE on/with mandolin?
    Back in the High Life,
    Losing My Religion, and
Battle of Evermore are in my repertoire.

Re: Loar 600 vs Eastman MD615

I bought an MD615 as my first (and only...so far) Mandolin earlier this year. It has good volume and tone to my ear. Getting used to the cramped fingerboard and bullet shaped neck is my biggest...
  15. Re: What is the difference between a trill and a hammer-on?

Yes, but repeating the hammer-on pull-off many times. Think Eddie Van Halen!

I have his classic 1983 Bach Cello Suites catalog. It is awesome. Lead to me buying Daniel Selman's mandolin transcriptions of them. I've only got #1 Prelude so far.

    Two thoughts-
    Cost?
Extra labor to place 8 individual tuners vs. 2 sets of 4?

Re: New Mando on the way...

I vacillated between the 815 and my eventual purchase of the 615 in Feb. Didn't think I could tell the difference in spruces on a Mando, and I wanted the pick-guard. :) I hope you enjoy that as much...
