  2. Re: Familiarity and the appeal of a specific mandolin

I tend more to save 1 (Gil A) with fresh-ish strings for my never ending recording project and play the Kimble for gigs and practice. lucky me.

    Re: If You Use MuseScore

Hey Bill, Unless I'm mistaken, I think you may have to export the tabledit file to midi format to import it directly into MuseScore at least that is how I have gotten it to work. Note, Tabledit seems...

    Re: One versus two-piece backs

I love my 1 piece back Gil. Mando bling for sure but I wonder how a 1 piece back impacts resale value? http://www.gilchristmandolins.com/539

Re: A style Kimble, Heiden or ...

I cant say enough about my Kimble A5 #122. It gets as much playing time as the Gil A3 #539 which is saying a lot. The Heiden's I have played feel like butter in my hands but to my ears don't project...

Re: Mandolin Players in Los Angeles

I'd suggest Evan Marshall. He can play anything on the mandolin. I am also curious if this is JD Bell.

Re: Tone Gard - Comfortable ?

It probably takes some getting use to. I'm curious why you want one. Can you or your mates not hear the mandolin well enough? Full disclosure, mine doesn't bother me sitting in the drawer :)

Check out Tom's fantastic tri-tone solo 50 seconds in on this classic Laurie Lewis song I'm Gonna Be the Wind. She doesn’t get enough creds for her songwriting, so much energy here.
