    Re: Suddenly feeling old

I am in the same boat. I play in a bluegrass band where all of the other members are talented, good looking 20-ish year olds. Totally deflating when we get done with a gig and a bunch of good looking...

    Re: Hard Times Bluegrass Festival

Stevenson is canceled. Only festival Left is bluegrass from the forest in Shelton, which is scheduled to happen now in September. Even winter grass was canceled for next year.

    Re: Kimble or Duff F5?

Just go to Monroe camp. Both Kimball and Duff will be there and you can try out their instruments.

    Wintergrass 2021

Sounds like Wintergrass 2020 is being called off. With everything being canceled for the summer, I was hoping something like Wintergrass, which is nine months away, would be spared.

    Re: Great Practice Tool!

I played along with some of the tunes tonight. It was fun. It does get some of the chords wrong on some songs. I want to say on songs like Old Daingerfield and Itzbin Reel to name a few. But all in...

    Re: 99' F5 Fern info

Realizing of course that we all buy and sell our instruments for various reasons. The last two posts note having HAD great Gibsons. Why did you sell them?

    Re: 99' F5 Fern info

I've heard that the post-flood Gibsons are supposed to be the best. Is that true? How do they compare to the Nashville mandos?

  14. Re: How much does a Northfield actually cost to make?

Their latest model is now starting at $7500. Wow. Something I've learned, and it's proven to me year after year, it's not the mando, it's the player. We have a festival in Washington State every May...

I got one for Christmas. How do you place them in a mandolin case. It comes with a clip, but I'm not sure what to do with the clip. Do you use the clip? Just let the unit free float around the...

Northfield Big Mon vs Artist Series

I currently play a Hester. Great traditional mandolin. Had thought about selling it as it's really more mandolin than I need, considering my ability. But I might just keep it and add another mando to...

First of all, thank you for all the work that you do on this site. I love the Cafe. But your response to Ivan is kinda harsh. Other folks, including those who are IBMA members have similar feelings....

Re: another "flying with my mandolin" thread

My experience has been that it comes down to a power-play by the gate agents. A couple years ago I flew to Nashville with a guitar. As we lined up to board, I saw to other persons with guitars in...

    Re: Visiting Nashville

There is a cafeteria that shares the same parking lot with Carters. The name of the place escapes me. They are supposed to be good and open for lunch only.

When are you going to be in Washington? Darrington Bluegrass festival is the weekend of July 20. The Stevenson BG fest is the following weekend. In Seattle is Dusty Strings.

Monroe is still the strongest. He picked up all the members of his band, least that's the legend.

    Re: Learning Sound Reinforcement

Is it Ok to use the main out right to daisy-chain two mains and then use main out left to daisy chain monitors? That way the band will hear the same thing as the house, right?
