    Re: Yet Another CF Mandolin?

I believe the final price point of $2,600 is a stretch. However, that said, Klos is producing carbon fiber guitars that are selling in the $2,000-2,500 range. Customers love them, and my Klos...
  5. Re: There has got to be something better than Tabledit, right?

Tabledit is a good program overall. I agree with the other posters that the best strategy is to learn and use standard notation. I have found that spending more time listening, playing, and writing...

Re: Klos Mandolins (due in 2024)

Sue, I have had it about a year. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Klos Travel Guitar will outlive me and sound as good for my ancestors as it does me. I love it and I am a bit nervous about the...

    Re: Yet Another CF Mandolin?

Yes, that large upcharge bugged me too. I did not order the K@K for that reason. I might have a sound port hold and simply use a lapel mic. That works well on the Klos travel guitar.

    Re: Italian music, getting started

Great advice from above posts. I can only add that I have the book, "French and Italian Tunes For Mandolin" transcribed by David Surette. David Surette has since passed away and I wonder if the...

    Re: Mandola string gauges?

I have a Collings MT2 Mandola, scale length just under 16. It was set up with D'Addario J-76. They sound nice and I have stayed with them.

    Re: Octave Mandolin Course

One of the builders on this site offered a short scale octave a few years ago. If my memory serves me, it was in the 18-19 inch scale length range. Do any of you know or remember who that might...

  19. Re: I've owned an A-style for 72 hours and already hate the shape

I had the same issue once. I used a piece of rubber no-slip drawer liner across my lap. The problem was solved immediately. Just a thought for you to consider.

Good morning, Cafe, Mates: Have any of you gone from mandolin to violin? Many people seem to be violin players who take up mandolin later. I am simply curious if any of you have done the reverse...

    Re: Valse de Jouets

Lovely song. Found version on The Session in key of E maj. Not a common key in the mandolin orbit. Get to dust off some infrequently used frets.
