Okkervil River is another good band in this category, and they use the mandolin pretty frequently, especially on their second album, "Don't Fall In Love With Everyone You See"

Quick quesiton on the Marvin the Martian mandolin (well there's some alliteration for ya)...are you making a standard f-style body, or perhaps go for something a bit different, like maybe a rocket...
