    Mike Marshall interview

Hi. I run a podcast called Bluegrass Jam Along. I normally keep updates about it to the 'Jams, workshops...' section of the forum to avoid spamming too much, but I thought this one might be of wider...
  2. Re: There are more pickers near me than I realised....

Ha! Definitely still in both last time I checked…
  3. Re: There are more pickers near me than I realised....

Might be worth adding something to the BBMA Facebook group too (if you haven't already). Might be some other UK players near Manchester. I'm no use to you sadly, all the way down in London :)
  4. Re: New bluegrass fiddle tune jam along podcast

Hi everyone. The 100th episode of Bluegrass Jam Along, featuring a special interview with Bryan Sutton is now live on the podcast!

Hope you enjoy it! I’m lining up more interviews so if there’s...

This week on the podcast it's Angeline the Baker at 85 bpm. Links/chords etc at bluegrassjamalong.com/the-podcast

I'm also starting to add interview episodes to the podcast. I'm recording the...
  6. Re: New bluegrass fiddle tune jam along podcast

Hi everyone. We're stepping things up a little on the podcast this week and playing Cherokee Shuffle at 85bpm. I'm going to keep adding tunes at 75bpm too but will re-visit some of the ones we've...
  7. Re: New bluegrass fiddle tune jam along podcast

Hi. I’ve added Cherokee Shuffle to the podcast. Links to various platforms can be found at https://bluegrassjamalong.com/the-podcast/
  8. Re: New bluegrass fiddle tune jam along podcast

    Hi everyone.

I'm trying something different on the podcast this week.

It's based on something Bryan Sutton mentioned on the ArtistWorks course I'm on about stamina being the key thing for all...

    Re: Artistworks question

Having some form of feedback is important to me. As a guitarist I tried Peghead Nation for a while and Scott Nygaard is great - I particularly love his arrangements of the fiddle tunes. But, in my...

    Re: Artistworks question

Waiting for a response to video submissions is the only downside for me. I've been a student of Mike's and am currently having guitar lessons from Bryan Sutton on Artistworks. The personal feedback...
  12. New bluegrass fiddle tune jam along podcast

    Hi,

Hope it's OK for me to post this here (and apologies in advance if not).

I've been really missing jamming over the past year, and backing tracks haven't quite filled the gap. Either...

Re: Thank you Scott and Dan!

Another big vote of thanks from me. The fact that so many of us will have come here yesterday and slightly panicked to find the forum down shows that what you guys have built isn't really about tech...

    Re: Northfield mandolins

I had a chance to pop into TAMCO in the UK at the weekend and played a couple of Northfields for the first time. I tried a Big Mon, an S Series and a GBOM. They were incredible. For context, I also...

Re: My journey through mandos under 1K

I regularly lust over more expensive mandolins but I doubt I'll ever outgrow the Rigel - it's more mandolin than I'll even need.

    ** disclaimer - this 100% does not mean I won't buy another...

Re: My journey through mandos under 1K

I've been incredibly lucky with my mandolin. I have a Rigel A Natural that I picked up from Trevor at TAMCO for 650 (around $850). Feels like a much better mandolin than anything else I tried at...

Re: Jack mounting on a Rigel

I think that's the joy of this type of pickup - if you're not using it you can just take it off completely
  21. Re: Technology used while playing/practicing mandolin

I found myself playing in the same few keys over and over and wanted a way to mix things up. So, I bought a pair of blank dice on Ebay for about 2 and used a Sharpie to write the 12 keys on them....
