Hey everyone,
My name is Jordan and I have been a frequent visitor to the cafe for about as long as I can remember. I run the Mandolin department at a shop in Lexington Massachusetts called The...
Oh wow I didn't even realize there was a classical sub forum! Looks like there's a ton of cool stuff there, maybe this thread would be better suited on that platform?
Thanks so much! I'm thinking maybe I'll at the second movement next because it's a lovely contrast :)
Hey All,
My name is Jordan and I have been a frequent visitor to the cafe for about as long as I can remember. I run the Mandolin department at a shop in Lexington Massachusetts called The Music...
This wont fix things, but the bast way to guage what the sound will be like is to insist on playing a test song right after the check, then tell him what you need out of the individual instruments....
I just got one a little wile ago, and I dont mind it. Its not a "great" mandolin, but its about as expensive as a fender and at least it looks alot cooler? Heres how it sounds through a PA?

ACK! If only I wasnt laid off! I have been wanting a man for AGES but never had the money. damn the economy.
Thanks guys,
This is why I post my questions on mandolincafe :)
Hey guys,
This is actually sort of a guitar question, but I dont trust anyone to answer my instrument questions other than the mandolincafe crew.
I am going to get a guitar and tune it in "new...
I am not offended, just disappointed.
As a musician I completely understand the situation.
As an unforgiving audience member I am turned off. Its always alittle insulting to hear a "live...
merely suggesting that the feel and sound of the cheaper mandolin sounded pretty rough to me. My playing definitely influenced it being that I was inexperienced, but it sounded and felt like a toy,...
I would never take my violin out in weather like that. I get scared enough when I take it outside in cold weather with a case.
When I was about 13 or 14 and was trying to decide what instrument I wanted to pick up my brother had a 100 dollar mandolin that I played and hated it, convinced that the mandolin in general sounded...
Yeah I actually looked up the same mandolin to compare prices. maybe I will just save up a couple more months and get that rigel on emando.
I also wanted the mandolin because Yank Rachell played the model and "if the mandolin is good enough for yank rachell, it is certainly good enough for me" (that said it is pretty well known he was...
Thanks alot guys. I can always count on mandolincafe to provide quick and helpful responses.
I played one a friend had and liked it, but I only own 5 strings (which feel like completely different...
Ack that blows. I finally have the money saved up and nothings around.

I have been wanting one of these for quite some time, but they dont seem to pop up all that much. I can only find one for sale at about 800 dollars, but I remember seeing them for around 500. I was...
Thanks alot jon, I actually think I will try those. The moonstone is not going to be my main instrument, so I was trying to avoid getting custom ones made, and these look like a good alternative. I...
if I remember correctly I got the mandolin for around 650-700. It came with the original warranty and case. The frets were in very poor condition, and I got the bridge sanded down for lower action....
So I have a 5 string mandolin with bartolini pickups (in P bass covers, I believe they actually are bass pickups) and my problem is that they only have 4 poles and the mandolin is 5 strings. the tone...
