Re: Stephen Perry is a genius!

Very poor and inaccurate advice if accurately attributed. I don't know if Steve plays either, but the violin is a wonderful and versatile instrument and worth anyone's time in learning.

As I have been suggesting, there is a fundamental, grassroots difference in the way I approach optimization and the way apparently others go about the process. This does not mean that I am correct...

No problem, Marty. I agree that the discussion, what actual discussion took place, is interesting. Hopefully we can continue to exchange ideas and perspectives/what we hear, etc.

Re: Stephen Perry is a genius!

Not really a part of the set , Steve. Was this a part of your original set up post? Perhaps it was, but I don't recall it being mentioned. Bridge angle does not modifiy the action once you establish...

Re: Stephen Perry is a genius!

No bridge is complete until you establish the string break angles as well as those on the nut. This will signifcantly impact the tonal quality, volume, and playability of the instrument. I am...

Re: Stephen Perry is a genius!

Can't happen, but it would have been interesting to read this discussion without it being associated with someone. What make the story in your analogy so compelling is it's association with an...

We would sure hope that it improved and apparently most of the Loars did from what the experts think here.

Re: Loar F5s and the Pros

Some of the positive tonal statements about the 22 year old Loar supports my/the position that age is not why any legendary instruments sound exceptional.

    Last Night's Joy

I caught this from a Norman Blake recording but my version has an airy/ mysterious feel ( you might disagree :disbelief:) since this is how I think of the melody in my mind.

Re: Loar F5s and the Pros

Do you think that there is any buider alive today that is equal to Mr. Loar's touch?

I am trying to understand what others can't do or chose not to do that Lloyd Loar did. I am also trying to...
