I surely love mine! It seems easier for me to work with, in addition to having lovely tone.
Marc, that is beautiful! I love your voice and playing. :)
Hi, I wanted to add that I have been practicing a few other songs from your lessons, and am so thrilled with both the content and your teaching style. Thank you!!
I just found your lessons, and have been working on Whiskey Before Breakfast. I think there may still be some discrepancy between the tabs and the video, but will double check, as i have been away...
Wow! I would love, love, love to own that mandolin. I hope you can acquire it!
My husband prefers and A-style w/ oval hole to an F-style.
I am still a newbie, but I was told that in the beginning weeks, practice for no more than 15 minutes per day. You need to build finger-strength and callouses. I quickly worked up to being able to...
I have only been playing 6 months, but I am gradually learning the notes.
I still can't do it. (sing while playing)
I wear my strap over the right shoulder and around the neck.
I found that my particular mandolin (Eastman MD 515) has an extremely heavy headstock. when I had the strap secured around the...
I got a CT-55 for Mother's Day, and I must say that I like it very much. One thing I like about it that I have not yet seen mentioned is that it is huge. The tiny picks they sell at Guitar center...
Did you *just* start playing mando, or is this just your first one you have owned? Really nice videos. :) I especially loved the Chili Peppers cover.
I have this problem as well. Some days, my right hand doesn't even manage to find the strings when I pick! Songs I could play in my sleep the day before become unattainable. My right hands is not...
I have a 515 and want to add a 505 to our collection. Glad to hear it sounds great!
Practice, repetition, scales. I have to look a lot when learning a new song (as I am still a fairly new player), but once I know it well, I practice often without looking. IT helps!
What do you guys think of the 140's as a fun take-around-town option? Is the fact that they are laminate ont he sides and back a serious issue?
My local Guitar Center has a KM-140 for sale (used) for $150. It is in immaculate condition, and it plays so nicely! I really liked it, and was thinking of trading my Ibanez M615...
I play both of mine often, but the Eastman gets played the most.
Oh my word, that rendition of Under Pressure was fabulous!!! (I know, no mandolin content..) I love Rise, and now I want to learn to play after watching Eddie do it.
My luthier is charging betwen $80-100 to set mine up this week.
Oh sure, I won the Mandolin Cafe/Eastman give-away at Christmas. It was the best Christmas present ever!
Has anyone tried the one Chris Thile uses? (I think the CT-50)?
I am trying to decide which type to order.
Oh, that's tricky, as the mandolin was a prize, so I wouldn't feel right saying anything.
I do intend to get the Ibanez set up after I get this Eastman sorted. My husband enjoys playing it a lot.
I try to practice an hour a day. It seems to be harder to fit in lately, as I am trying to keep up more with the housework, gardening, and working out too. There are only so many hours in the day.
