Yeppers... Herb did mine and had to fuss with him to take more cash!
He did a great job on it! Much improved over the setup done when I had the K&K pickups install new.
No key change in the song. But thanks all I believe I have enough to follow through with this!
I’m eager to learn too! Hope you’re right.. that looks playable.
I've been searching on the net and not found an example yet. Can anyone share some shapes for a Dsus4add9?
It would be greatly apprecated.
I am the original owner. Purchased last winter
Got cha... thanks
Don't know what is classed as 'older' ... this was purchased new last winter.
I looked over the Rubners and thought they seemed outstanding from a design standpoint. I might go that way. I'm not sure what the stock ratio is on mine but if it is smooth and capable of zoning in...
Well that is being done right now. I've got it in for a tune up and attention to the tuning machines is on the list. But I still would rather have a more granular ratio on the machines regardless....
Can't find any spec's on the Schaller Grandtuners... might be a good move with the 18:1 ratio but I'd like a bit more info before making a jump.
Looking it over I’m stuck with nickel

Mike,
Will do! Thanks!
Thanks Al...
Looking over the options I really like the only in stock Rubner’s but aside from them being a bit out of the reasonable price range for my 515 they are only 15:1 ratio..
So I think...
I love my MD515 but the tuning machines are stiff and temperamental.
I’m not sure what the ratio is on them but I would like to find a drop in replacement set that would provide a more granular...
I just got my Peterson clip on strobe tuner... and gave it a go on my mandolin and two of my guitars. OH MY GOODNESS... sooooo sweet! I’m loving it!
Good point.. and in the promo video's for the StroboClip HD their reasoning is exactly that.
The human ear can detect variances of 2 cents or more. So if you have a Snark tuned ensemble with +-...
On the A vs F debate... I own an F and have owned and A. When I purchased my F to replace the A, I was informed that the A's were slightly more playable and not quite as temperamental as the F's. ...
I'm so excited about a new tuner that I've order and should be here soon. The Peterson StroboClip HD.
I picked this tuner up as a result of two factors:
The limitation of clip on tuners to...
Nope, Don... the 515 is practally new. I bought it last January because I had sold my old mandolin and was suffering from withdrawal. Herb helped put that one in shape it was an ultra cheap Ibenez...
That just might work! He likely would be intimidated by the thought of you sicking your victious dog on him.
E, The last mandolin I took to Herb he schooled me on doing my own setup and never charged me because he made me do it.... if he’d do it and let me pay him I’d be happy to! LOL
I have come to the conclusion that it is high time I get serious about my Mandolin skill and I have begun to take steps to address that.
Even though my Eastman 515 was supposedly setup by a pro,...
I opted to embrace my incompetence and just purchased “Mandolin for Dummies” by Don Julin.
My thought is to rewind to the beginning and properly fill in the holes I’ve ran roughshod over in my...
Great advice! I concur.
That is beautiful just as she stands! What is the plan for the fininish?
