    Re: Key of Bb

Taking a guess they may be referring to chord substitutions, chords that can be used in place of chords in the key while still maintaining the key or used to modulate into another key. There are...

    Re: Trading

As Paul said above there isn't a correct value. There are indications of a correct range. In the scenario laid out in the OP there probably is a sufficient secondary market to look up prices in...

    Re: Mandolin to DADGAD

My question is what is it that attracts you to this tuning? It isn't related to mandolin tuning. You can learn basic guitar technique with a guitar tuned however you like but there are a lot more...

Re: Amplification as a learning tool

I think hearing something in a different way is often a help. Also a distortion pedal will emphasize some harmonics much more than others. This could be part of what you are hearing.

    Re: impulse purchase - non-mando

I am more a bass player than a mandolin player so here are a few words of advise. Get a good set up and while you are at it have it checked out for problems. Upright bass problems have a way of...

    Re: Octave Mandolin -

Cool octave mandolin. Two points. As you discovered, you can't just move the bridge. It changes the intonation. You shouldn't be leaning your hand on the bridge. Actually, you really shouldn't...

Re: Aria AM900C - Made in Japan

I am a bit of an Aria nerd. Aria actually never built anything, with the possible exception of early (60's) classical guitars. They contracted out, almost exclusively to Matsumoku until around...

    Re: Room Humidifier recs

Any of the ultrasonic humidifiers should be able to do the job. They are fairly small and quiet. I have a couple of Venta brand ones that have served me well for over 15 years.

I found one in decent shape for $30 in an antique store. I like that is tuned in fifths. I like the soprano range. It is just different from my usual bass playing.

Re: Need Help Identifying Strange Mandolin
