  1. Re: The merciless camera (recording ourselves as a reality check)

On the other side of the coin... After a certain point, occasionally you may notice *nice* things :mandosmiley: about your own playing - things that sound good in the video, but you didn't even...

    Re: Random mandolin sightings

Sesame Street, S49 E27 "Little Bo Peep Lost Her Cow", :)) has a mandolin-shaped prop/model of some sort being 'played' by one of the puppets. Screenshots below. Click pics to make bigger:

    Re: Why Mandolin?

There was one in the house when I was a kid. My dad played, but he did that tremolo stuff (pretty waltzes and such) and strummed chords for singing. Nice to listen to, but I didn't feel the bug to...

Re: Picking technique on electric mandolin?

One of these years I'm going to build (out of whatever scrap and/or cheap materials I can find) a quickie 8-string electric mandolin-tuned object, and it will have 8 frets. :disbelief:...

    Re: MuseScore software

True, but there was an unexpected problem after I did that last year. Unfortunately, that particular iteration of v3.x reassigned a bunch of my Windows file associations - things that the Musescore...

    Re: MuseScore software

I do, but I'm still using the older version 2.1 which I'm quite happy with. :mandosmiley:

But I don't like the changes they made in version 3. (Too much to list here.) We'll see if the eventual...
  7. Re: How can I convert unsearchable PDF files to searchable PDF fi

Well I thought I'd found a clever solution to the problem, but it creates another problem.

    This part works:
Export as image, re-import that image to new pdf document, then OCR that and re-save...

    Re: How To Attach Photo?

This quickie video shows how I add a picture to my posts here, using a Windows computer and Chrome browser. I don't know if it's the 'right' method or not, but it seems to work for me... YMMV....

Sticky: Re: Thread for Social Group MP3 posting

For MandolinCafe Song-A-Week 528, my tentative arrangement of JCF Bach's German dance tune "Schwabisch". MIDI-only playback from notation app.

Re: What Do You Use for Editing Standard Notation

MuseScore here too, :mandosmiley: the slightly older version 2.1 though. I don't know where y'all get the money for stuff like Sibelius or Finale, that sort of thing is not within reach for me as an...
  12. Re: San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra Virtual performance

Thanks! That works. :) Wonderful music, very enjoyable! :mandosmiley:
  13. Re: San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra Virtual performance

Video still doesn't work. How is anyone else seeing it?

Not a browser issue, as it happens on both computer (local Ethernet) *and* phone (testing using phone-carrier "data" from many miles away,...

    Clean picking Ginny.

I can but I choose not to. I like the vibes of it slow.

One of my videos from a couple years ago, very slow and has different-than-usual chords which I like:

  16. Re: Gibson opposes Collings' headstock trademark registration, ci

Mind-boggling. The headstocks in question don't look anything at all alike.

Why doesn't Gibson just trademark the whole 8-string idea while they're at it, make everyone else go 7-string or...

Re: the first 3 tunes you learned?

    1. Yet another "Soldier's Joy". :whistling: Must be the most common oldtime dance tune ever!

    2. Either "Cielito Lindo" or part of "La Traviata", can't remember which of those preceded the other...

Re: Strings for Nerve Damaged Hands

Re: Tabledit Question about tied notes
