I remember when I was told I was picking the wrong way. I refused to change for a while but I noticed, felt and saw with my own eyes that there was great relieved tension in the tendons of my wrist...

Mike Edgerton, You've the smarts worthy of the title 'Moderator'.
The owner couldn't tell me if the top wood was laminate or not because he said "there is black around the holes" so I didn't go about asking him any further questions about matching grain over the...
As the title states, does it exist?
Here's a picture of a low end pacrim I am considering taking a drive out to see this weekend but, I don't want to waste the drive if it is likely a laminate...
Pardon me.
I use pencil graphite in the nut for my sliding strings too, going to cut a larger hole when I get the right knife.
I get once a day on my outings, "is that a ukulele?"
I just started fiddling too! Got a great deal on a nice one. Pardon me if I am repeating something but, the radio told me to ALWAYS keep all fingers on the bow, horse hair instead of synthetic makes...
Changing the initial contact position of string to saddle by flattening a rounded edge or vice versa, could also have effect on foot placement.
The feet do not have to sit at a specific spot, where the saddle meets the strings however does. The placement of the feet could be slightly changed by the angle the feet have been sanded... I...
I know all about the intonation, I was asking where the feet should sit on the top for ideal resonation of my modern a5 shaped mandolin. by modern i mean its like todays collins or gibsons.
Yes, a CA bridge eventually it will be for me. I was just wanting to pinch my dollars where I could. Is there an ideal place on the mandolin for the bridge feet to sit? To aliterate that question, a...
A few days after owning my new mandolin and playing it at every moment I could, a van door closed and collided with my bridge. It snapped my saddle and broke the threading on one of the threaded post...

I came across these here 2 chord scales in G that I find very pleasing to my ears http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=g5-voccMWis and Mike Marshals G-Am-Bm-C-D-Em-F#-G first G chord played open to a closed...

Im no pro but i do know all instruments have a life of thier own much like children. if you concern your self with a certain aspect too much your instrument will pick up on that and the knot will...
I do have a rather thick board on the neck. The reason for considering a new neck rather then a refretting, was the crack in the neck and fear of problems in the future. Thanks for the advice.
It does work and play well, just pondering the idea because, the frets are flat and worn out and farther down the neck the sound gets softer and looses its crisp sound, sounds more flat.
I have an f style mandolin that I have been considering installing a new neck. The current neck of my mandolin was broken and repaired by one of the previous owners this can be seen as a white spot...
