    Re: Anyone taking online lessons?

This outfit uses Zoom but the same bandwidth issues apply. I usually get about 120Mbs which should be fine. My first class is Tuesday night

    Re: Anyone taking online lessons?

Thanks for all the feedback. I decided to go ahead and try a class through lessonface.com and see what I think.

    Anyone taking online lessons?

I am talking about one-on-one lessons over Skype, not recorded lessons like at Peghead Nation or Mandolessons. I am curious as to other folks experiences using an online instructor. I have been...

Re: What instrument is the hardest? My experience

Truth be told, I would love to borrow that contraption for a day and play around with it. Whether its "music" or not is debatable, but it certainly looks fun to play

Re: What instrument is the hardest? My experience

Other than producing special effects sounds for horror movies, the role of that things seems awfully limited when it comes to music

It can take decades to master the subtle nuances of the triangle

Re: What instrument is the hardest? My experience

I used to play the Zu Zitter Carzay and the Trum Tupers. Very difficult. You don't see them much except in the Whoville area

Re: Classically Trained, wanting to expand

One of the Pete Wernick Jam classes might be a good start. He also has some jam along DVDs

    Re: Your average $150,000 guitar

You would think for $150K they'd throw in free shipping, but even that is $500

    Re: buzzing after string change

    Len,
I think your theory is correct. I have not done anything yet, but we've had a warm-up and increase in humidity and the buzzing seems to have stopped, although probably temporarily

    buzzing after string change

I thought my setup was pretty good and I have no had any issues prior. After changing my strings two weeks ago I am now getting buzzing on the A strings only. I replaced the strings with the same...

    Re: Trump tariffs and Eastman

My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that the tariff increased 10% on 1 September. That doesn't seem like a showstopper to me.
  15. Re: Sweet Child of Mine (GNR) - featuring mandolin

I am I fan of this version. Who know you could play Slash on both a Mando and Dobro?

Re: Finally, a use for a banjo

A separate article said that he was released WITHOUT bail. So I assume he just heads home with a mangled banjo

Re: Finally, a use for a banjo

It's not all bad... there is now one less banjo in the world!

Serious question: did this man come all this way from Dallas to whack that bull with a banjo? Nutty yes, but very committed

Re: Muth Mandolins and transaction payments

Unless the person in question is a Nigerian Prince, I would refrain from paying with Western Union. No legit seller would do this

    Re: Kentucky Mandolin km 250s???

I have a KM250 that I bought new on the classifieds here for $395. I am quite happy with it. $200 seems quite reasonable. Prices on new ones have gone up quite a bit recently (perhaps due to trade...

  23. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

  24. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

Understand your point, but I dont think Gibson winning in court is going to be a financial windfall for them and "enjoy the fruits of their labors". I think most buyers are making purchase decisions...
  25. Re: Gibson threatening the mandolin and guitar luthier community

I stand corrected. I am a Hole fan but that has no bearing on my interest in mandolin
