Dave Hynds has fixed my bridge and also made me a spare replacement. He is an absolute joy to deal with, and the workmanship is great. My mandolin is now strung and sounds beautiful..

Well I'm glad I asked, seems I need to source some decent strings. Guitar shops where I live are pretty limited, so I expect I'll need to get some online somewhere.

Giuseppe, thank you so much for the pointers, I have the strings I mentioned earlier but I'm waiting on a new bridge so I'm yet to restring the instrument. I'll order some new, lighter gauge strings...

As an update, I've taken your advice Bill, and lightly tapped the frets down. It now plays in tune! Once I have this new bridge I'm good to go!
