    Re: What’s after a Kentucky KM-1050?

At this point you should be deciding what kind of tone you want. That'll help narrow down your choices re: builders.

    Re: $1000 Budget

Ratliff's are great but you're not gonna get one for a grand. Country boy f style goes for just over 1700.

An f style for a thousand bucks your best bet is either a Kentucky or eastman.

Re: Well set up beater mandolin??

OH, do I relate to this with my dog. She's chewed up all the furniture. Lol. She's a large dog, but still a small baby mentally. Being 85 lbs at four months old is a lot of power for a dog that...

Re: Well set up beater mandolin??

My dog is an 85 lb four month old. She jumps all over her humans and displaces whatever we are working on most of the time. I wouldn't feel safe playing my mandolins around her. Hell, she tried to...

Re: Well set up beater mandolin??

I don't have the tools. A basic set up kit from stewmac costs 120 dollars. At that price I might as well get the rover from elderly, but unfortunately that's not in my price range.

    Well set up beater mandolin??

I got a boerboel puppy recently and she chews absolutely everything. It's this reason that I've packed up my mandolins and stuck them in a closet. I've been looking at getting a Rogue, aka mandolin I...

    Re: Kentucky 272a

There's quite a few threads on the 272. Some have video demonstrations. I'd use the search option on the forums to look for 'em.

I had the 272 for a bit. I liked the sound, but ultimately the feel...

    Re: Chinese made mandolins (Northfield?)

From my understanding, Northfield was born out of a desire to buck the trend of exploitative labor practices both in the US and abroad. These are master luthiers from China and the US who decided to...

Re: Big muddy m-11 vs morris oval hole

The m11 is all mahogany so it makes sense it would be on the "tubby" side tonally. As for a Morris oval hole, why don't you contact him? I'm sure he'd build whatever you like however you like.
