Thanks all for the wonderful advice! I have been doing wrist flexion and extension stretches. I have not yet started to do exercises but have purchased a Theraband flex-bar to work on strength. I...
I've been struggling with Tennis Elbow and playing mandolin seems to agitate it. I literally stopped playing for 10 weeks and it got much better. The injury was sustained from sporting activities....
Enjoy the journey! The resources here are amazing. Trying to build a solid foundation of skills will take you a long way. Especially the pickin' hand. Have fun!
TWM...I'm working on my right hand technique. I've realized that I may actually hold the pick to loosely. I've decided to alter my grip and start back at square one. It's is a bit discouraging...
Great video. I really enjoyed the laid back vibe and relaxed pickin'. I wonder what type of mandolin Thile is playing there? I couldn't get a good look at the peghead. It also looks like an oval hole...
Great info guys. I don't plan to have it unplayed for long. I've heard both side of the fence. Just thought one was better than the other. Thanks again.
I recently bought a new mandolin and have quickly realized my other is not nearly being played as much. Is it proper to take some tension off the bridge? Seems as though it would be best for the top...
Thanks for weighing in Tom. I'm so happy with this instrument. Please pass on my thanks to Pava. I can't wait to hear how it sounds after it opens up. Typically how long does it take a mandolin...
Thanks.
I'll post a sound bite here in a bit. Hopefully I can post a recording from my phone on the café.
Tony, this is a fairly new thread I believe. Pava has not been building ovals more...
I apologize for the sub par pics. You can click on them to make them larger if you'd like.
Also, I'm not sure how many A4 ovals Pava has built. From what I understand mine was the second. Its...
I too own a Pava. Last week I received my A4 Oval. I have been playing a very well built F style for just over a year. I can't get over the tonal differences between the two. The Pava oval is...
Some how I know you'd be the first to reply. You'll get to play this thing too! :mandosmiley:
I'm fairly new to the Cafe and thought that I would share some images of my soon to be newest addition to my (small) mandolin collection. Pava and Tom obviously are known their attention to detail...
The latest from the Ellis/Pava Workshop.
I too am wondering if it was archived anywhere. What an excellent show. Thoughts on the performance?
It's going to have a blonde finish with tortoise binding along with some other tasty appointments. Sure to be fantastic!

Hello all. I've decided to post images of my Pava that is being built. Thanks to Pava, Tom and their wonderful staff for their assistance and communication as the process continues to move forward....
I saw this. So excited to see this F5 completed. I have a Pava on order and can't wait to get it in my hands.
I'll post images of my oval build if I can figure out how to do it from my mobile device.
Looks like Pava is venturing down the F style too!

From what I understand it's the second one she's built.
So I've been playing the mandolin for about a year now. I started out fairly slowly and am now fully addicted to learning and enjoyed this fantastic instrument. I was warned by a great friend of mine...
I'm all over the place. Sam Bush, Avi, morphine and lots of country blues lately.
