  1. Re: New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art insturement exhibit

Mike, I’m sure the stuff is a bit more authentic than some of Hard Rock Cafe’s. I had a friend that worked for Roy Orbison. When Hard Rock asked about getting some instruments, Roy sent my friend out...

    Re: Bluegrass in Memphis

May 10 a good progressive bluegrass band, The Riverbluff Clan, will be at Bartlett Performing Arts Center. Free show out by the lake. Jamming possible, but not guaranteed.

  3. Re: Tenor Banjo suggestion for beginner Mando player

I bought a gold tone ac4 from a cafe member a while back and am having a lot of fun with it. It sounds pretty good and you can get one new for a couple hundred dollars. The stretches can be a...
  4. Re: Thoughts on Ry Cooder's New Recording - The Prodigal Son

I bought the album based on the videos. so far I like the video versions better than anything on the record. The production seems to get in the way. Maybe I need to listen some more!

  6. Re: Anyone else own a Howard Morris custom made mandolin?

Those pictures inspired me to order one for myself! In fact a few weeks ago I sent Sonny a couple of those pics and asked for one that color, but with an ebony board. It might be finished this week!

    Re: Arches mandolins?

I enjoy the sound of my FT-O. A lot. The wood, fit and finish are beautiful! The only thing I don't like is that, even after the upper frets were milled by Chris, there is still about .020" relief in...

    Re: Thomastik strings

I wanted to like the Thomastik strings. Bought the 154st set. Had an E string break the first day & replaced it with a spare .11 that I had. Then a G string broke less than a week later! For the...

    Re: What chord is this?

Tell her to try the C#13 (same as Db13) on the "A-". It's the top shape in the diagram found here: http://www.guitar-chords.org.uk/c-sharp-dominant13-chord.html

    Resolve to a C9.

    Re: new Arches flattops

It had a J73 set on when I got it. Close enough to know I want something else. I put the Gs & Ds from an old JM11 set I had. Moved it closer to what I think I'd like, but I'm hoping for a little more...

Re: New Weber Gallitin A Mandola D Hole

If Homer is playing a G shape on mandolin or guitar, then you need to play a D shape on mandola to match it.

Re: New Weber Gallitin A Mandola D Hole

Everything is a fifth lower, so a mandolin G chord shape is a C on the 'dola, a D chord shape is G, an A is a D, etc.

  21. Re: Thomastik-Infeld Alto Mandolin/Mandola Strings

Thanks so much for the update. I'm likely to try a set from emando on my Gallatin when the current set of J72s go dead. What gauge did you get?
  22. Re: Thomastik-Infeld Alto Mandolin/Mandola Strings

This is great to know. I'd like to try some on my Gallatin. Please update when you get them on. Thanks! -craig

    Re: Old Wave C#

I remember reading that he calls it a "C#" because it is half way between an "A" & an "F" style. I want it bad!
