What brands and styles, exactly?
Mandoenvy,
Just google IMSLP and from there you can find all the Bach any mandolin player needs. (Scored for violin, though)
BTW the Bach piece that i laughably attempted was the courante from...
Thanks for the constructive criticism!
Yea i've always tended to play extremely quietly. maybe to get a softer, less twangy tone? i don't know, but i'll definitely work on it.
Yea the pick clack is the most irritating thing to deal with when recording soft and more fragile playing.
Jim i'm jealous of you! And thanks for the nice comment.
The following link is a link to a quick (very, VERY, rough) little recording i made doing some Bach and messin around with some improv. I'd aprpeciate if y'all could give it a listen and critique it...
I second that.
Thanks a bunch
Does anyone have tab or notation for Mike Marshall's rendition of "Odeon"?
I should also note that notation is smexi too.
I saw Chris Thile doing a cover of this song on youtube, does anyone happen to have some of the tab for of it, i got some of it down, but barely.
And i'm not talking about Mandocello here.
I've been looking around but can't seem to find much on Youtube of a mandolin and cello duet. Could someone help me with this as me and my friend are gonna...
Also responding to Jeff's point, Honestly i've hardly played the viola. I know colleges are very interested in it, though. I mainly play the Violin and occasionally play my dad's viola. It's just a...

Unlikely, I'm a senior. :(
Yea, i was afraid that Charlie. I don't have the skill or grades to go to Berklee. I live in Michigan so i'll probably be going to a college around the Metro Detroit area. But here's another...
My buddy got a scholarship to a state University for playing the oboe, cause its such a rare and challenging instrument. I'm wondering how a standard university would react to a decent mandolin...
I know the tuning very well, it's viola tuning just an octave lower. (the 'cello). I've been playing instruments in fifths for 4 1/2 years, approx.
Steel string, classical, and epiphone les paul
I've been playing the mandolin for 2 years now, and ever since i laid..uh ears on the mandocello I've had a deep desire for one. Being a 16 year old, i don't have very much money, only about 200-400...
Exactly my experience. I have rarely recorded myself due to the fact that my best recording device is my Mp3 player, but when i did it usually sound worse than how i heard it while playing.
My brother and I have both been playin' mandolin for 3 years now, on the same model mandolin too.
When i play i hear my notes as very clean and pure but when i hear him, his notes sound more...
Thanks, but even if we did haggle a bit, a could never afford it...:(
I also have used YouTube for "lessons", although not interpersonal, they are effective.
