Rhythmically, it feels like part of the intro to "Josie" by Steely Dan.
I don't know if Michael is the most expensive modern builder, but can safely say it's the most expensive mandolin I've purchased. I bought a used instrument directly from Michael, that he had just...
I recently had some work done to an Apitius, a Gibson Adam Steffey model, and a Hinde. While the person doing the work had them, the players that took 1st and 3rd at Winfield this year played all...
I thought Ethan had won. The crazy thing is that Ethan and Luke play together. Luke is the guitar player in the ensemble.
Figured I would give this a bump since we're less than a week out. :)
I have a Hoffee and Calton Caseadillo cover. It does add an exterior pocket, but know you will not be able to put very thick items it the pocket. Music, maybe strings, but not much else.
I got...
And...want to meet up?
Another +1 for Pirateship.com. My guess, but it seems like they are basically a corporate account where you're "buying" their UPS service. Still goes to UPS just as if you bought the label at...
But I'm so darned pretty, I'd only be looking at my face, not my fingers.
:)):)):)):)):))
Mark, agree, it would be less than a scientific test. :D I'm lucky, I think blindfolded, the feel of the Hinde would be something I would gravitate to, torrefied woods or not.
But...I don't think...
Man, tough question. I have a torrefied mando made by Steve Hinde. It's a great sounding instrument, but I didn't get it solely because it was torrefied. I got it based on recommendations from Nick...
...has the tremolo you like best or would most like to emulate?
I was thinking about this yesterday while listening to different players and thinking about specific things to work on. I'm new...
I'm with you...describing tone is like describing which ice cream tastes best. It's driven by what you like the sound of, and the person you're describing it to might not have the same...
I'll definitely look for the Radex picks. I have a couple of CT-55s and like them. I also have a couple of ToneSlabs that I like as well. And, I have some of the Dunlop Prime Tone pics that depending...
Eric,
If you instrument was in Tyler's shop this past Saturday (white Calton case), then I did see it...that's a pretty cool mandolin! We were talking about cases, and mentioned that your Calton...
I had a similar issue with fit. I had to send an F5 to Gibson for warranty repair. Instead of using the original Gibson TKL case, I had just purchased a mandolin that was sent to me in a new (old...
I just got the instrument back from Tyler White. Not only did he repair the binding, but refretted with larger fret wire and set the instrument up. It's a wonderful sounding instrument, and doesn't...
I was fortunate to find a pretty strong deal on an Apitius Grand Classic. The only catch was that there was a cosmetic issue with the binding on the extension. The binding was extremely thin on the...
I'm a big fan of Transcribe!, and agree with Rich that Strum Machine is a pretty cool tool. I've also been using Tab|Edit, which is pretty fun as well.
This is absolutely great. I know recovery won't be easy, but glad you're finding a way to overcome and adapt during the process.
Helping someone else with MAS? I'd do that for free...
I'm fortunate to have several really nice mandos. All have been purchased sight unseen, and I've been lucky as I think they all sound good, but each is very different.
Having played other...
Well...8th fret on the E string would be C.
Luckily, that's not a note that would appear much in most keys.
;)
I have an '03 Gibson Adam Steffey w/ToneGard in an Austin Calton. As mentioned, tight (for me tight on the sides) at first, but no problem at all.
