Re: Northfield is simply nailing it lately

Not sure what's 'fragile' about a 1/2" thick piece of maple....

I wouldn't use it to hammer a nail, but frankly, it would probably work ok for that. Love my F5S like my children.

    As for the...

    Re: Strap Recommendation

    I have one each:

    Lakota (braided elk)
    Sully's (flat saddle leather)
    Little Satchel (braided kangaroo)

All three are great. None are cheap. Current fave is the Little Satchel.

    Re: New Member Old Questions

There are dozens of threads with the exact question you asked. You can go and read them all or just order an Eastman 315 from one of the Cafe sponsor shops (so you'll get a good setup included in...

  9. Mandolin Orange Live Stream Sunday 4/26, 8:30 EDT

Just announced on their FB and IG pages.

Carried on FB, IG and YouTube.

Donations will be accepted for a local charity.
  10. Re: I have read other threads and i am still confused- newbie man

I think your math is backwards. Using the formula above (and it's a good rule of thumb), a $150 mandolin would be equal to a $75 guitar (not $300).

You may be able to find something for $150, but...

Re: Last Mando standing, How to choose?

    Think of it like this:

If your house is on fire, which is the first one you would rush in to save?

  16. Re: Steve Winwood "Back in the high life again"

Steve is one of the great musicians of our age. As noted, he plays lots of instruments, and all of them better than most people that call those their primary instruments...

    MandoLessons.com

Go to the Lessons link, pick a fiddle tune and you'll find several backup tracks to play along with for each tune, with slow and fast versions and guitar backup if desired.

One thing you can do is scour YouTube for videos of those (and lots of others in your price range). While it's not perfect, you can start to hear the differences each builder has in their...
