    Re: Cafe User: Br1ck

OK, it appears this post caused a bit of ire with some. I apologize. It was not directed at Br1ck per se, just a general observation. Now, when he first arrived, he did throw out advice from the...

    Re: Cafe User: Br1ck

Well, ordinarily I wouldn't comment on this, but I through my back out this morning and I'm in some pain, so why not! I've always found humor in folks who come on the forums here as the ultimate...

Re: the first 3 tunes you learned?

    On Mandolin:
    Angeline the Baker
    Cluck Old Hen
    Golden Slippers

I'm such a hack, I still play them anytime I play and have recently found my timing is way off on the B part of Golden Slippers, so...

    Re: Help with upgrade, please

Great choice! I have owned both the Eastman 504 and the Kentucky 272. IMHO the Eastman was the superior mandolin.

    Re: F Mandolin gig bag

Boulder Alpine is nice. Don’t use it much. I also have a Gator poly foam that I usually use. Depends on what you want/need it for.
  7. Re: Mandolin Recommendations - Beginner to Intermediate

If you read all the past posts, many think the 305 is equal to or better than the 505 (Eastman). Maybe not as pretty wood. I have a 305 and once I found the right string/pick combo, I'm very happy...

Re: Big muddy m-11 vs morris oval hole

I had a Morris A4 (arched top oval hole). It had a radiuses fret board. It was a beautiful mandolin. The sound was way different from my Big Muddy-not better or worse just different.

Re: Am I being to Critical on New Mandolin

Do what your heart tells you to do. Don't listen to us. If it bothers you now, it will eat at you later. Send it back if that's the case. Good luck with your decision.

Re: Looking For A Decent A Style w/Oval

I see you have a Morris A4. I currently have a Big Muddy MW 0 (primitive) and used to own a MW-0 standard. I have also owned a Kentucky 272. I have played a Red Valley. In the carved topped...

    Re: poor quality or MAS?

Yep! what he said. Alternatives would possibly be a Flat top - Big Muddy Primative, Morris, etc. I believe there's a Morris in the Classified's now (NFI). Good luck and welcome to the Mando and...

    Re: Attention Silverangel owners

When I got mine, Ken told me he had switched to GHS 270's. That was 3 years ago. He may have switched back. I'm currently using DR Rare mediums. It's the best my SA has ever sounded.

Well, good luck with that plan. I thought the same thing, but a couple of years on the dobro and my left hand would cramp badly on the bar. Stretching, strengthening, etc, did not bear any fruit,...

Peghead Nation vs OAIM for ITM Lessons

I searched for this but came up empty....

I've been unsuccessfully working off and on trying to delve into ITM on the mandolin. I think I need some pointers on picking and tempo, etc.

    For...

Re: What strings are you currently playing?

I recently bought an Eastman 305 as a travel mando. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the tone, and figured the strings were shot given the time it languished in the store. I had a set of d’Addario...

    Re: NMD....Eastman MD305

In my quest to downsize musical instruments in my advancing age, yesterday I traded 2 guitars for a new MD305 (down to 4 guitars, 3 mandos, and 2 concertinas). Anyway, I had played a few of these...
