  1. Re: G.L. "Skip" Mandolin - Handmade in Tennessee - Any info?

Those tuners are way newer than 1996.

    Re: Kay Mandolin

Probably the mid to late 60's. Do a happy dance if you can get anything near $100.00 for it. They are pretty common and that's not a high end model.

These are the sold listings for Kay mandolins...

    Re: 1902 Martin Bowlback mandolin

I appreciate that y'all like it but if it was that good of a deal I think it would be gone by now. YMMV.
  5. Re: Peaches Blew Up and Killed the Chickens

I got there from my phone, the song isn't listed. I can see the disclaimer on the video for this song "No peaches were hurt creating this video". Hopefully someone can find it because my interest is...

Have you checked the bands CD baby page? I can't see it from work but the link should be:

    Re: Kay Mandolin L 8290

Just to reiterate what Nick said, that number is a batch number and Kay reused those numbers. I'm sure if you've Googled Kay L8290 you've already found a message where someone has that number on a...

    Re: 1902 Martin Bowlback mandolin

There is a market for used American made bowlbacks but there are a ton of them on the market, some decent some disasters. That's why the prices are low. This Martin is beyond the market but he only...

Re: What kind of tuners are these?

They are modern Waverly tuners that are produced by StewMac (www.stewmac.com).

Here is the link to the tuners. They are available in a variety of finishes and knob colors as well as in F and A...

    Re: Stradolin Seeks Glue

I'm not sure if there is a ceiling to what you CAN put into one but there is certainly a ceiling as to what makes sense to put into it. The only factor I see that could change that would be if it had...

    Re: Stradolin Seeks Glue

That's what I suspected from the pictures in the original post. Thanks. Do you know if you posted pictures of the neck out of the body? I'd love to link to that if you did.

    Re: Stradolin Seeks Glue

Other than an interest in the genre I don't see much I'd buy there. The case is nothing to write home about, the tuners are not exceptional and the tailpiece isn't all that desirable. It might be a...

Re: What are these bridges called?

The second one is an interesting solution to a six-string conversion. I have no idea what to call either of them.

As Br1ck has stated, the approach to fingerboard is different. If you're trying to play using the ends of your finger like you do on guitar you're going to have to adjust. If it makes sense your...

Re: I have a superton, what next?

String it up and see if it plays without problems. If there are issues then you can try just taking the frets down a bit but chances are you'll run out of meat on those frets and you'll have do...

I believe this is an Epiphone as well by the way. Yup, they even come with the flowerpot. Changed the headstock logo and the tailpiece and changed the interior label.
