See post #2. I regularly play my Resonator Mandola in BG Sessions, TI Mandolin Strings on an 18" Scale tuned DDAAEEBB. Intonation is fine.

Yeah, you gotta figure the Appraiser was fishin’. Still, without pics as to looks, condition, authenticity, this is all pretty moot.

Re: mandolin strings on a mandola?

19” is a long scale for a Mandola. 16” and 17” are more common. Use a tension calculator to see if the mandolin strings at CGDA on a 19” scale would be roughly the same tension as the same gauge...

I don’t think so, at least I can’t find multiple references. What I have said is that there is no advantage for the Seller using PayPal. The Buyer gets the guarantees that I think are not necessary...

Play Old Time REELS at dance speed. Play a few 'crooked' tunes. Add a bunch of Contra tunes to your repertoire and play them at speed - you'll wear down the singers.

Sellers don't insist on Payal, at least I don't. It's only offered as a convenience for the Buyer. Seller's don't get any value from using Paypal directly.
