    Re: my two mandolins

An f-hole model and an oval-hole model . . . that's a great way to start and to explore your mandolin 'voice'.

Play, learn, enjoy and keep us posted.

Re: Sellerís Remorse - 2008 custom Weber Fern

I would love to have my old Rigel Custom R-100 back . . . but much like my hairline, it's gone and most likely will never be seen again.

    Re: beside the mandolin.

I tried the banjo back in the mid-1980's, but failed miserably at it; (much like attempts to learn lap-steel, accordion, violin, harmonica, pedal-steel and trombone). Obviously I have a strong love...

Re: Uh oh THE Gibson may have a problem

I once remember reading that Glenn Frey made a big deal about the fact that his band was called 'Eagles' without the 'The' in front of it . . . I guess he saw all of this coming, 50 years ago.

    Re: Woodstock

A former band mate of mine attempted to go to Woodstock, but got stuck in halted traffic for several hours before he and his friends decided to turn around and find the nearest bar.

    He missed...

    Re: Out of my league

Unless I am mistaken, ANY musician who can afford a Loar can claim it as a business expense, and use it as a tax write-off . . . so, it can serve the triple purposes of being a player, investment and...

Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

It 'could be a collector's piece' . . . and I 'could be the King of Spain' - but neither is likely.

I suspect that I, and even my kids and/or grandchildren, will be long dead by the time that...

Re: If You Don't Perform In Public....

First and foremost - I do not own a high-end mandolin, and most likely never will . . . unless someday I come across a nice Gilchrist at Goodwill for $100 - but I'm not holding my breath on that one....

  16. Re: Check out this mandolin...... Thoughts, comments, concerns

    Well - that's . . . interesting . . . .

    Actually, I kind of like it . . . I just don't $6,700 like it . . .
  17. Re: What is the most mandolins you've owned at one time?

I think I topped out at about 4 or 5 mandolins. On the other hand, my highest total of various stringed instruments at one time was 36.

Yes, I have the same 'condition' as William . . . and...

Believe it or not, I got turned on to Gibson ovals by watching old videos of Dash Crofts of Seals & Crofts. It is something that I would like to lay my hands on - someday when I am worthy . . . .

    For my quick 2-cents . . .

Opinions and advice are great - but It's YOUR mandolin - so in the end YOU decide what plays, feels and sounds right to YOU.
