When I got my Schwab electric back in the '80s, Kevin was still making 10 stringers.

For some reason, I passed on that and went for his 5 string model.

We discussed making an alternate neck...

I've gotten numerous preslotted ebony mandolin fretboards from Allen Guitars for making tapered replacements on bowlback mandolins to correct insurmountable neck angle problems.

They've worked...

I've never heard one of these fitted with an electric pickup but probably tried out in some Northern Italian garage band.

I believe the label is from a "Stridente" mandolin.

I'm seeing an "IDE" on the fragment with the familiar circular surrounding border.

Seems similar to many of the specs for L+H's "American Conservatory" line, which tended to be quite nice mandolins.
I've owned a few AC bowlbacks and maintain that they are the best mandolin / $...

I’ll second Bob’s recommendation for the Calace Dolces. I use them on my bowlbacks and flatbacks.

And even have a set of the Medios on my Gibson now. (David is probably rolling his eyes…��)

This is certainly pre-war, and certainly not 'factory made' but likely from a small(ish) shop that produced a lot of MOR mandolins for export to England, France, Germany etc and...
