  1. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

  3. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

Re: Mojo on beloved Daley mandolin

I have spots on my Gibson that I've worn off. I'm kind of proud of those spots.

Re: Mojo on beloved Daley mandolin

  7. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

    Re: Mystery Mandolin Oddity!

I believe that would qualify as a Piccolo Mandolin. Many newer ones have three courses of strings, many older ones have four. I've never seen one like this. It looks American made and I'd date from...

    Re: Tuner Replacement

Two things you need to know. You need to know the spacing center to center of the posts and it they are worm over or worm under. If t's that old they are most likely worm under but the spacing is...

    Re: Advice for Tuners

By the grace of his wife Robin and a family friend that volunteered to maintain it Paul's legacy lives on.
  13. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

I'm pretty sure Homer and Jethro will get a mention as they've mentioned the Chicago hillbilly music scene several times.
  14. Re: Did you catch the Ken Burns Country Music series opening?

It's in the CMHoF but it was part of the same scam by Robert McLean that Bill Monroe's mandolin was caught up in.

    Re: Harmony mandolin

First off, that's not an F5 Harmony, that is what is now known as a Harmony Batwing model. While you're waiting for more answers take a look at these threads on the Cafe. They were built towards the...

    Re: Klusons

Paul Hostetter figured that if they didn't work well they were probably bad from the get go. He assumed that the tooling was worn at the end of the run. That and the crumbling buttons. If you look at...

    Re: Eastman MD515 tailpiece replacement

Plugging the screw holes is pretty straight forward as long as the new tailpiece covers the old holes. The James has a slightly elongated hole for the endpin in the event that it doesn't line up....

    Re: Rigel tailpiece replacement

We get asked about these on a fairly regular basis if anyone has a source.
  22. Re: The Guitars (and Mandolins) of Ken Burns' Country Music

Well, mandolin is the Italian word for out of tune so it works! That's a great quote.
  23. Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

Yup, that little old Regal shop in Chicago was turning out a whole lot of them custom mandolins...
