The clue is in the Amazon advert. It says “Compatible with almost any musical instrument” but that doesn’t mean that it’s also compatible with almost everything you might want to plug it into.

In the UK there are laws about this type of thing - you have to have someting on sale for a particular length of time at the full price before you can claim it to be discounted by a certain...
  4. Re: Replacing a Collings tailpiece with a James tailpiece

You could also weld the loop to the pin and then there would be no way it could slip off!

Were not talking rocket science here, its only a mandolin tailpiece. Yes, you can use a capo, you can use...
  5. Re: Replacing a Collings tailpiece with a James tailpiece

Nice to hear from somebody else who dislikes the Collings tailpiece. They’re even worse on the mandola.

Re: Deterioration due to closed case

The greenish oxidisation of the frets alongside the pickguard is typical of gassing celuloid. I had a similar problem with my old ‘76 Ibanez but it’s never been a problem with either of my Gibsons....

    Re: Tailpieces

My Collings mandola came with one of the Allen type tailpieces and I hate it with a vengeance. It’s difficult to keep the string loops on whilst you’re stringing up and you have to yank the strings...

Re: Trouble hearing "in tune" unison strings

Personally, I never tune both strings of a course with a tuner. I tune one with the tuner and then tune the other to that.

I come from the far off days before tuners were invented and A strings...

    Re: Replacement Tuning Machines

Just to be clear, there are two sorts of “Golden Age” tuners. The right ones for a ‘12 Gibson A are the, worm-under, “Restoration” tuners; which you have fitted. It’s the worm-over, modern hole...

That looks like one of the original “baby’s coffin” UK made Caltons - I have an identical one. I’m not aware that Keith ever made/sold a case cover - it’ll be a one off - and, personally, I’ve never...
