he has a point, and I'll have to remember that logic for occasional application.
  4. Re: A word of encouragement (but maybe not)

I'm game. Woodshedding and watching videos of others playing is in-cave musicianship. But going out and really playing with others and in front of audiences is the real music whose shadow you did...

Re: Youtube and Ookpik Waltz ownership

I had this two or three times with traditional Irish tunes nobody can claim anything on. I followed the procedure provided by YouTube to controvert the claims and they were withdrawn in considerably...

    Re: Off to Scotland

When you go to Skye, bear in mind that the increasing traffic there has put the many single track roads under pressure. When there is more cars at a time than fit into one passing place, from both...

Re: What has your mandolin been called?

I often get asked what the difference is between my OM and some other player's bouzouki. I have two answers to choose from:

    - my OM ends where the bouzouki has its capo.
    - his is longer.

    Re: Musician Jokes

It happens. The Irish flute player Ciaran Carson recommended practising while lying on your back, partly to find the correct embochure position more easily, partly to prepare for dizziness.

Re: What has your mandolin been called?

My OM has been called a guitar, a Portugese guitar, a ukulele, a banjo, a bouzouki, a mandolin. One BG musician saw the case and asked "four strings or five strings?" I shrug that off.
    Once they...

Both diagrams ignore the fact that the strings form a break angle at the bridge. In a perfect world, the break angle should be exactly halved by the bridge, and the bridge should be perpendicular...
