    Re: Weak trigger finger woes

Things changed when Ebay and Reverb started charging sales tax. If I am dealing with a business fine but hate eating 8.75% when your are dealing with a private individual. I think a lot harder before...

Re: Valuing a Gibson by Dr Lori

You feel bad for the guy thinking he has a mandolin worth $7K when it is worth 1/4 or less? And then we wonder where people come up with ridiculous prices on instruments for sale.

Re: My KM 1050 vs other Mandos

I had a 1050 and it was very good. When I got it the prior owner told me that it had not been played for a few months and would take some playing to wake up again. I was very underwhelmed at first,...

    Re: Blueridge BR40T

I have a BR60T and bought one of these. Seems like a nice case and fits pretty well. A little extra room but not bad. Has a nice front pouch a handle and the backpac straps.

  6. Re: Praise for the contoured and rectangular Ameritage cases

They look nice. Decent price compared to the high dollar cases. To bad they don't make one for an A style.

Re: String journey on a Collings MT

Have you tried Elixir Nanoweb? They come in medium and light. I don't know what it is but the mediums feel lighter that other medium strings to me? They sound good and last a long time. I have a...

    Re: Great Falls MT Pickers

There is a guy (sorry I don't know his name) that plays frequently around GF - It appears his group is the Rivertown Rounders. He played at the KOA on Wed (?) you may be able to join in? He also had...
  10. Re: Soliciting suggestions for my next mandolin (or not)

If you have not already, you might invest in some different strings. I have been around several Collings mandolins. I know one that is not exactly a banjo killer but most of them are loud and have...

Re: James tailpiece on a Collings MT2

I am sure Collings would know if you contacted them. Also you might contact Bill at Axiom, I am sure he would know as well.
  12. Re: In praise of mandolin builder Matt Ruhland

I was at a camp with my daughter last month. My instructor had an early Ruhland F5. It sounded great and was really woody and powerful.
  13. Re: Question about a Flatiron A model oval hole

The label does not look like a Nashville era mandolin. The said The Gibson Master Model. I am far from and expert but have owned four of the Nashville Flatirons. Wondering if there is a serial number...

    Re: Thinking About A Pava

Sell/Trade - they may take them on trade but may not be able to give you much trade credit. If you list at a fair price I think you could sell the 305 in the classified here pretty easy.

    I have...

    Re: Old Gibson

It appears to me that there is a crack in the top on the treble side of the oval hole heading towards the bridge. If his has not been professionally repaired you will want to get it fixed before...
  17. Re: I am considering a Lafferty LF-5B....

Lafferty mandolins was/is a private brand for The Mandolin Store. Most I have seen were made by Paul Schneider of Summit mandolins. I have seen posts that Audie Ratliff built a few also? So you might...

2014? purely a guess. You might try to contact Saga, they are pretty good at responding.
  19. Re: location of Gibson mandolin production

I believe it went to Nashville around 1998 and they are currently made in Nashville under Dave Harvey. I am sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in with exact dates.

    Re: First Mandolin

I would contact someone like the mandolin store (or another site sponsor) that carries both. Let them know what you are looking for and ask there opinion, the stores I have dealt with have been great.

    Re: Finger exercises ?

Mike Marshall Finger Busters is a great warm up. I think it may focus slightly more on the right hand there is plenty of work for the left.

    Re: Andrew Marlin's Gilchrist F5

To bad we can hear a direct comparison to Joe's A Gil. That was a pretty good mandolin.

Why in the world would Andrew cross out Made for Aubrey Haynie?
