Anyone know where to find Django tab? Is it copyrighted? Must be 100 years now, or nearly.

    Re: tree poaching / instruments

Someone told me of an instance of this here in France.
The logs had been secretly tagged and they were tracked by gps all the way on trains, ships etc. to somewhere like Singapore and then on a bit...

Re: Jam Etiquette re: Playing Mandolin Chords

I’m not too enamored of the chop but in this situation, Bluegrass, it sounds fine.
The higher pitch drum-like sound will fit in well with the guitars and the ears of the older folk, and of course...

Re: Have tips for a songwriting course?

A long strange, four column word list for the improv can reduce pressure and have amusing results too. Four or more columns of different rhyming concrete words taken from thesaurus.
  5. Re: How long does it take to get over fumble fingers?

Agree completely, even just standing up and doing deep breath upper body exercises, then metronome and two minutes of zenning into the groove. More deep breaths, shake out etc. Loosen up and even...

Yes it’s the preconceptions (good and ‘bad’) that will set the tone for the rest of the term.

Re: Have tips for a songwriting course?

I’ve heard that 12 bar blues with improv narrative is fun too.
-Though I’d never do that myself. It’s rubbish. :))

Re: Squirrel Hunters - Which version?

You’re very welcome, it reminds me of a B movie from the ‘70’s where the actors have had enough and tell the director to go home and leave the camera running.
No longer performance, it becomes a...

    Re: D'Addario Shout Out

Anyone know if they do a complete Nylgut fifths set for a concert ukulele?
  13. Re: Gibson Must Now Face Antitrust Litigation in Heritage Case

Yes, those at the top wanted their product to be emulated and saw that as an endorsement of themselves rather than a possible future threat to their business.
  14. Re: Gibson Must Now Face Antitrust Litigation in Heritage Case

Part of a successful marketing plan is to get your competitors to mimic your funny product while you remind everyone that yours is the original.
  15. Re: How long does it take to get over fumble fingers?

Playing with someone, getting very close even, that’ll be your oxytocin fix.
Very enjoyable, slightly different feeling of pleasure. But much cheaper than a night out would be to get an oxytocin...

Re: Have tips for a songwriting course?

Often with words a statement is made (or a set up line, two statement lines and a response line per verse).
    For example:

1 I met a lot of girls in my time
    2 they were like this
    3 they would...

Re: Have tips for a songwriting course?

Sorry Ranald, I was thinking of the 1970’s (UK) when we’d provocatively say that something is rubbish, or use some other hyperbole to describe the opposite. :)

Re: Have tips for a songwriting course?

Ranald, Bob Dylan’s songs were rubbish. Just poetry with a solid rhythm, what is that?
    Here’s an example:

Re: Have tips for a songwriting course?

Off the top of my head, I haven’t done this for a while. :))

    Re: Strap it up!

I actually would trust thin leather, unless it’s good quality and new. It can sometimes age badly.
If you need a thin strap, you could use 3-6 mm para chord from a climbing shop. It’s quite soft...
