    Re: Mystery Mandolin Oddity!

it was about $175 shipped. I'm fairly happy considering I had no idea what I was going to get in terms of playability.

    Thanks,

    Re: Mystery Mandolin Oddity!

Whats a 5 scale? Does that mean short scale? It is indeed about 1 fret shorter than a standard mandolin.

    Thanks!

    Mystery Mandolin Oddity!

Hi everyone! I made an impulse eBay purchase on a very strange mandolin that I know nothing about. I've never seen anything like it, and wonder if anyone has. Here she is:

Re: Fender Tele Tenor at NAMM

I will say that it's not Cream City's fault, and I was promptly refunded and offered a complimentary set of strings for the inconvenience. Seems like fender didn't produce enough of these things....

Re: Fender Tele Tenor at NAMM

Just had my pre-order canceled because they ended up not getting as many as they thought. Cream City Music. Super bummed!

    Thanks

  10. Re: Need an Amp for my solid-body four-string electric mandolin

I have a Quilter micropro 8 and absolutely love it. You can get a footswitch with it to control any of the onboard effects. It's all analog rather than digital modeling, I can't pretend to understand...

I've really been enjoying the beta-buttons Scott so graciously sent me for my Collings mandola! They were extremely easy to install, fit the posts much better than the plastic ones that came off, and...
  12. Re: String gauges for GDAE on electric tenor

I run 46 32 22 12 on my archtop electric, but am interested in going lighter since I don't play it nearly as hard as my acoustics.

Truly incredible stuff! Would love to see a 15+ inch scale length 5 string version of this with a floating pickup!

Re: 19" octave mandolin - tune as CGDA

Sometimes you can widen them out a little using a pen or other cone shape to gently make the loops a little bigger.

    Re: Mandozine

I was fearing the day this was going to happen. I actually downloaded the "all files" tabledit zip a couple weeks ago. It's a shame to lose that amazing searchable database, but here's a link to a...
  20. Re: Who makes a good inexpensive Octave Mandolin?

Thanks! Mine plays in tune all the way up with no intonation issues, but I got it used so I don't know if it had work done previously.

  21. Re: Who makes a good inexpensive Octave Mandolin?

    Double post, sorry!
  22. Re: Who makes a good inexpensive Octave Mandolin?

I'd buy one of the eastmans. I put mandola strings on it and tuned it GDAE and it sounds and plays great!

    Thanks

  23. Re: new string gauges for octave 018T

    For GDAE I do 46 32 22 12 or 13, use a .60 pick, and play pretty heavy handedly.
