    Re: Lefty Mandolin

My parents gave me a fiddle one time. I never got in to it. I practiced and practiced but I couldn't get use to be it. Of course it wasn't a lefty. Probably would have done better if it was more...

    Re: Lefty Mandolin

That's in theory yes. I've had no problems with customizing an A style *which is what I'm talking about my friend* No matter where the tone bars are situated, I can always get sweet highs and velvet...

    Re: Lefty Mandolin

That's not true. Give me a Loar and see if I can't convert it to a lefty. Very easy thing to do as I was inspired to do so by some of the mando lovers on here who told me it was possible to convert...

A slight crack on the side by the neck

As shown in the photo, the light catches a slight crack on the side by the neck. When I bought this mandolin, I took note that there were indented lines under the paint and coat on both sides by the...

    Tom,

I'm right there with you. I have all the love and respect you can have for Bill Monroe. I saw him live when I was a kid. I didn't much care for what I heard 70 of the performance but the...

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

I'm in Kentucky. Temperatures are well over 100 degrees this week. 104 degrees outside as we speak. I was out there in the shade yesterday for about 30? 40? minutes. I got a couple shows coming up....

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

It was bugging me about this so I decided to tune down and raise my bridge on the E/A side up a little and there's no buzzing! I'm going to pick on it for a little while and see how it feels. I...

Thank you for helping me work out the possibilities. I'll see if I can't get it in to a guy I know.

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

If I could get someone to push for me and the buzzing stops when the neck moves forward. I should set the mandolin up for a truss rod adjustment and tighten it up a wee bit?

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

I tried to bend the neck like you said but I don't think I'm strong enough to make a definite difference. I thought I heard an improvement but then again I may not have been striking the string good...

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

This nut is a Righty. I'm a lefty so those slots a quite large because they're suppose to hold the D strings. Lots of room in those slots. Sounded great for a few months though. I don't know.

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

It's both of them. I gave all the strings a weighted strike and all are smooth but the two A strings. My ear tells me it's coming from the bridge but my gut tells me you're right. LOL Bridge buzz...

Re: A strings buzzing all the sudden

That's odd! There's no buzzing when I fret anywhere. Only when it's open. I look the saddle over all over and I don't see any cracks. It's a solid ebony saddle. Are they prone to cracks? The saddle...

A strings buzzing all the sudden

Hi guys. I got a problem here. I tried looking through old threads to find anything on this particular subject. I was playing my mandolin tonight and heard the A strings buzzing from the bridge. No...

Re: Is it possible to get an "in tune" mandolin?

Everyone here is more seasoned than I am but I can't help but throw in my two cents. You mentioned "unplayable." I'm guessing the action is too high. High action can kill your intonation. Maybe the...

Re: Any advice for a new player?

While practicing, try to stay relaxed. Don't grip your pick to hard. If you're playing a song and it feels like you're making the same slip ups over and over. Practice the trouble spot slow and...

Re: Delta Ridge A Style *Converted LH*

Delta Ridge A Style *Converted LH*
