Re: Music Lesson Studio/Shopping List Help

For sure Emily, it was not my intention to come off as preachy but there is great potential for you to have an online presence in the meantime. Even if it’s just posting short videos...how to hold...

    Re: Chinese made mandolins (Northfield?)

I have one of the Northfield 1st gen Master models built in 2014 and I love it. I paid considerably less for it than my friends paid for their Ďequivalentí American made mandos that are not as good...

  6. Re: Chris Henry New Monroe Improvisation Course

Thanks Josh, I’ll email him. Figured it was on Facebook since I hadn’t heard of it anywhere else.
  7. Re: Chris Henry New Monroe Improvisation Course

I like Chris and have used his lessons to learn a few Monroe tunes...Lockwood, Southern Flavor, Trombolin and others. His lessons are definitely not for beginners...but hang in there and it comes...

    Re: No motivation

Hang in there Jimmy, this too shall pass. Maybe a break is exactly what you need, take some time and don't play - put your mando in the case and go do something else...you will rediscover your love...

    Re: Developing Finger Independence

This is not ffcp, the 2, 3, and 4 fingers cover frets 1-5, no need to reach up to 7 in open position as those notes are not used on open position but if they are just shift your hand. The pinky can...

    Re: Developing Finger Independence

Keep learning tunes with good technique and tone. Shift your hand so that in open position the 2, 3, and 4 fingers are playing melody rather than 1, 2, and 3...keep at it and it will come.

    It may...

Re: A chord without muting A string

Just keep trying, maybe work on it for a few minutes each day and it will come. Itís not like itís going to be perfect when you first do it, youll find a way to fret with the tip of your index (most...

Sounds like a good Old Time tune title...sorry, couldn't resist...
  14. Re: What do you do when you're Just. Not. Feeling it?

All good advice, Iíll add that sometimes you need to step away and take a few days/weeks and do something else. The time away might re-energize you when youíre ready to start playing again.

Hi Dan, overall I thought they sounded great on the Northfield, to me the tone was very clear and loud. I infrequently record myself so I can’t really say for sure that the bass in particular stood...
