A tuner shootout: TC Electronic Unitune vs. Peterson StroboClip HD

    Re: Northfield Calhoun Case

Wonder if this Access Stage 3 rectangular case would work? I had one of these for a Pomeroy A that I had years ago and really liked it - the internal layout makes it work for a variety of mandolin...

    Northfield love

I have to stop taking trips to Nashville and trips to Carterís - it is getting dangerous and expensive. Yesterdayís visit resulted in me taking home a brand new Northfield F5S. I was sitting up in...

    Re: Thomastik-Infeld string weights

They're designed with European and Italian style mandolins in mind, not Gibson-style mandolins. So their Hard (or Stark), as you noticed, are just starting to get into the realm of what we'd consider...

I hope this is not inappropriate so mods please move or delete if needed.

I have been following this site long before I acquired a mandolin. I love the instrument...however life and work has...

Re: PEEK Pick by EML Picks

The pick making business is not Eric's main day-job, he is a special ed teacher. For now it is his 2nd job/avocation. He makes the picks one at a time by hand so be patient.

    Re: Best Armrest

I've heard that some cork strips have damaged the finish because of the chemicals used in processing the cork. I never had the problem but I switched to leather several years ago. Even the leather...

    Re: Best Armrest

Thanks, Joey. I hope you and your family have also enjoyed their holiday.

The CA armrest does not detract from the tone of my CF at all. Due to the thin cork strip where the armrest meets the...

    Re: Waverly Tuners tight

Waverly tuners are made with close tolerances. That makes them feel great when we take them out of the box and spin the knobs, but it means that slight spacing errors, or slight misalignment of the...

    Re: First pickguard Attempt

I think the style of the pick guard matches the mandolin very well. Where did you get the celluloid, how did you shape and then bind it to the mandolin top? BTW is that a cedar topped mandolin?

These pictures, despite the evidence of my lack of attention to cleaning and polishing my old 1970s no-name F5, should show roughly what the backrest device is all about.

People will be tired of seeing this, but I made my own device for keeping the back of my F5 clear of my torso. I used scrap wood, pieces of cork table mat and viola chin-rest brackets. It certainly...

    Re: No more EXP74's?

Suppose their testing is probably like how I do mine. 96.9% of the results are based on cold facts and thorough research.
The other 13.1% is just stuff you make up.
