    Re: Exposed Bushings

I know they work fine so I would initially think leave them alone...but looking at that would drive me a bit nuts (Yup, the "human brain" issue). If the bushings worked themselves out and you just...

    Re: Electric Mandolin Buzzing

The copper tape also needs to be folded over to make copper to copper contact....the bottom of the pickguard also needs to be shielded so that you are making a sealed copper box (a Farraday cage).

Re: recommend me an acoustic bass

Well....for under 200 you can make a really nice sounding instrument with a washtub, line and a stick. The result is exactly the same if you practice.

Cumberland is great to work with....just give him the center measurement of the post distance. Adrian has had good success with gluing and he is extremely qualified. I am a hack....just good enough...

    Re: Advice on a Mandola?

I had an Eastman Mandola.....didn't bond with it in any way so it went away. Too "celtic" sounding to my ear....and that is being kind. If you can get one of Coombes mandolas for 1k.....even...

Re: Givens Saddle - custom size?

Replace it and don't even think about it. If you want to you can slightly ream the bridge holes to get a fit. But make sure the ream is side to side, do not allow any front to back at all. Not what...

The different versions of "You Are My Flower" by the Carters have always driven me nuts. Just when you think you have it you try to play it with someone else.....everyone does that little stutter...

Definitely get it fixed. I did the same thing quite awhile ago by picking up the instrument carelessly with my thumb over that area (but on the tail end side). Let it go for awhile but it did start...

Taylor Baby gig bag is my go to for stuff like this. The earlier ones are slightly better than the newer ones. Nicely made and padded.

Agree totally with this. What I have found is similar. I go back to a tune I really like but haven't played in awhile. Breeze through it....then slowly take it back apart and try to make every...

    Re: CGDA tuning on Mandolin?

I went back into my notes.....I wound up using the D'Daddario J72 mandola set in the end. 14/23/36/49. The pressures were 21#/24#/24#/22# per string respectively (I do not recollect which...

Yes, you can redo the mandolin as a mandola. No you are not going to increase the loads on the neck by anything appreciable. You are still using the same strings and pressures on six of the...

  25. Re: What is Today the best Tenor guitar between 500$ => under 100

Dang....I REALLY did not need to see that. I had asked Mule if they would consider it a couple years ago. They said no so I let it go. Until now. Jeeeez.
