Yes, it makes enough sound to hear yourself in a quiet room, but it won't be heard in the next room, for example from outside the hotel rooms I spend half my life in. :)

How hard is it to replace a banjo bridge? It's doable by the average person but still not trivial on a mandolin. Changing picks is a really easy way to change sounds. :)
