The placement of the soundholes was mostly due to there being a crack full of resin where one of the soundholes is
No the top isnt quarter sawn but the first mandolin i made was the same stuff and it sounded pretty good
Its spruce but I'm not sure which type
Ive glued on the top now with a + shaped bracing now so I'll see how it goes
