Yes, Wow.
Thanks for sending that along. Really enjoyed your singing and playing. And your Ruhland sounds fabulous. Bell-like. Great sounding guitar too.
I echo earlier recommendations of Kimble and Givens. Or get on a list for one from one of Matt Ruhland's upcoming A5 batches.
These fit what to me is the current take of "traditional" voicing.
Scott-
Congratulations! You and the Mandolin Cafe team have created something really special, and valuable. I know I'm not alone in appreciating how much this means musically and socially. One of...
Corbin, really great editing and playing. Really enjoyed your vocal arrangement and singing too. Interesting, tasteful and true to the song.
Another perspective, We have 3 mandolins, all from individual builders, all fabulous. None of which I played before buying. All of which I'm more than happy with. At the same time I've had mandolins...
Not to mention Herb Pedersen, one of my all time favorite harmony singers and banjo players. The whole band, material, mixing, energy. Just stellar.
Correction to my earlier post, the album is "Here Today."
Sheesh. . .
Yeah, this is such a classic CD set.
Another classic of that general time is "Home Today." One of my all time favorite bluegrass albums.
Great story. TME has excellent service.
I bought a mandolin from Jordan last year, essentially "over the phone," and it was a very good experience and outcome.
Great idea for a thread, and great lists of recommendations. I've seen several of them, but many I haven't now want to.
I'll add:
- Muscle Shoals
- The Eagles Documentary
An experienced luthier will know what it will take to repair something and usually give an accurate estimate, sometimes factoring in their workload. They may also say whether an instrument may be...
I have Waverlys on one mandolin, Rubners on one, and Gotohs or something else on the third. The Waverlys are smooth, as are the Rubners. I guess I'm not that picky about tuners, wouldn't change out...
Really great tune. Paul Shelasky is an amazing musician, and darn funny dude.
Definitely looks like a Sam Bush.
I noticed Brian is playing a Gibson guitar. Wonder if there was some sort of Gibson promo or recognition going on that day at the festival.
Wonder what the luthiers and other craftspeople at Gibson, the heart of the company, think about all this.
BTW Gibson, as you take all these naps and during your episodes of delirium a whole...
If one wasn't spoken for I'd be tempted to do whatever I could to resolve that. They're that good.
I think someone does, but I don't know.
And I love my "Banjo Scream" t-shirt. A classic.
Tom's great, an amazing, understated talent.
Really sorry to hear about that, hang in there.
I'll echo what others have said about getting your instruments back.
Regarding your briefcase and laptop, I've heard of them just getting...
Uh oh. . .
That about breaks the cool barrier. Nice.
Thought so, that a couple came out together last year.

I think so. It's very nice, may be one of his first F5's with his peghead design.
